I want to see exactly what you would have done to create a franchise with a culture of winning and a future of being competitive for the cup instead of settling for battling it out for 8th place, and as a result, barely missing or being bounced in the first round.
You can use the real list of UFAs, draft picks, etc. from 04-05 forward. I expect details of the signings including length of term, dollar amounts, and obviously, names.
I expect full and detailed explanations. However, this is not an exercise in fantasy. "trading for a franchise goaltender. signing rugged defensemen." is not acceptable UNLESS it is something you can prove is incredibly realistic and involves players that eventually were moved or became a UFA.
Be prepared to answer for your plan by someone that has some intimate knowledge of the Kings, NHL, and hockey as a whole (me).
You have from the end of the lock out until now. You get a free year with DT at the helm.
I await your responses.

I too am curious as to how they would turn this team around. The complete idiocy and short-sightedness on this board has reached an all time high (and THAT'S sayin' something)
I want to hear their real-world solutions to this team's woes.

1. Not trade for Dan Cloutier.
2. Not give Dan Cloutier a huge raise and contract extension before playing one game after season ending knee surgery.
3. Not sign McCauley after season ending knee surgery.
4. Not give Handzus $4 million a year for 4 years after season ending knee surgery.
5. Trade Lubo when his worth was at an all-time high rather than sign him to a big contract.
Those are just off the top of my head. I'm not one who has called for his head yet, but I don't anybody who is objective can say Lombardi has done anything better than an average job so far as GM. He has made some good moves, he added some depth, but he has made some terrible moves and handed out some insane contracts. Overall, I still give him a C grade.

How did any of this hamper or impact the future of the Kings, and their eventual competitiveness for THE STANLEY CUP, not 8-12th in the western conference. EVERYONE was clammoring for Lubo to be kept, as puck moving defensemen that are defensively responsible are few and far between, and once he was paired with someone else, his game really came around this year; even statistics would bare that out.

Having large, long-term, contracts for players who are not living up to them (Lubo, Handzus) surely can't help their competitiveness, can it? Bad moves are bad moves and since there is no way to determine how competitive this team will be in the future we can only base it on what he has done so far. If you think Lombardi is only going to make bad moves now and somehow magically stop in the future, I expect you to give detailed reasons with footnotes and a list of references in APA style. Thanks.
