Why isn't Fabian Brunnstrom the most "coveted" player not in the NHL on Sweden's WChampionship team roster. Is it that they are Pissed that he will soon be leaving for bigger and better pay checks in the NHL. It's too bad I would have liked to have gotten a chance to see him play on the World stage in Canada. Looking down the roster of the Swede's they could use his services.
It's an honor to represent your country at the World Championships. There's a lot of great Swedes who play in Europe and many of them are getting up there in age. The biggest highlight of their season is being selected to play in the Championships because in the Olympics and such, Sweden will be taking more of a North American based squad.
That is quite right that there is a very deep talent pool in Sweden. My guess is that thi s last year was his first in the Elitiserien where he put up 37 points in 54 games as a rookie. Very respectable showing for a younger player.
He's actually not that youung in comparison to other prospects in the league. Brunnstrom is 23 an is somewhat of a late bloomer...a very good one at that.
This is from second hand info, but I heard he was battling through an injury late in the season which affected his production. I'm not a 100% on this story, just a word I got from a Swedish friend who follows the Swedish league much closer than I do.
This is a guy the Kings need to get signed. They need his speed and skill on the wing.
