NO WAY Rob puts on THAT jersey to get boo'd off the ice again.
there has never been a trade between the two organizations, and i seriously doubt that the first one will be with someone like Rob Blake.
Dean Lombardi talks a good game of team and tradition and character... he has even called Blake a "special guy."
this would be in incredibly poor taste, and based on the way he handled both Craig Conroy and Mattias Norstrom, i honestly doubt anything like this would ever happen.
Like I said, I doubt this ever happens. But if Anaheim bites.......I would laugh my ass off. Most of the intelligent Kings fans would know why the deal was done and would understand why it was done. I doubt he gets booed again if the Kings get a 1st rounder for him. They might actually cheer that. And to be honest, even if this happens the Ducks don't win the Cup.
If you were a GM who would you rather have? I wasn't saying you made a "flippant remark". You would have to agree that Blake would attract more takers than Modry. I know that Burke is not desperate yet, but on the PP Blake could help his team in a huge way. Modry can't. Like I said earlier, this will never happen. But I would like to see it.
well, if I had to chose one I would choose Blake. Where I am in disagreement with a lot of you guys is in how much Blake would actually help Anaheim's PP. Personally, I think that the PP is struggling because there isn't enough goal scoring amongst the forwards. Selanne's absence has effected the Ducks tremendously. Both McDonald and Kunitz's numbers suffered with Selanne gone. If Selanne returns that will take care of the issue. With the issue taken care of how valuable is Blake to Anaheim now? Not very much.
Also, I have doubts as to how successful Blake could be in Anaheim's defensive system. Blake is simply to damn slow. I just see too many reasons for Anaheim NOT to do the trade and that is without even getting into the whole "don't trade with your rival" stuff.
I can't see them having any need for Blake with their defence corps. Too bad.
As I said before, it's not as much that Ducks NEED Blake. Blake's value is in not allowing him to make some other team better. If Ducks are really serious about repeating, they will be willing even to overpay him a bit, just to keep him away from Senators and Red Wings.

When I made that flippant remark I was also thinking about his performance this entire season. Yes, he has had a few good games here and there but at the end of the day one has to acknowledge that the dude has been outplayed by Modry all season long. Yes, Modry. For the Kings to obtain a lot in return for Blake they will have to find a desperate team and or a gullible GM.
OP, Blake has been the best Kings D-man for a long time now. It is not a coincidence, that teams like Ottawa are thinking at loud about a trade involving Rob Blake. The guy has more value at the moment, than you think he does. And Burke would like to get Blake, there is no doubt about that. The question is, how much does he want to pay for him.
So to be shorter: wants Blake - no doubt, at what price - we don't know.

It's called "Taking one for the team." Me personally... I would definitely appriciate that and I'm being completely honest. So I'm not sure about booing.
like I said...every GM has at least one f'up in their resume. Desperation usually is responsible for most of them and there is no doubt that Burke was deseprate at the time seeing how he lost Penner and was unsure about both Niedermayer and Selanne.
However, the broke ass forward is now healthy and playing well. He has 3G/5A/8PTS in his last 4 games and 13 points in his last 11 games. In spite of the time he has missed to injury he is only 5 points behind Dustin Penner, who has played every game so far.
Who knows how the Penner/Bertuzzi comparison will end up.
But for now....Burke isn't desperate. He's dealing from a position of strength so Lombardi's chances of taking advantage of him are pretty low.

over the course of his career, Rob Blake has been one of the best hip checkers in the game. he changes directions better than any current Ducks defenseman save for Scott Niedermayer and maybe François Beauchemin. he's a better skater than Sean O'Donnell and is about as fast as Mathieu Schneider is now. but i DO agree with you that the Ducks' power play issues lay up front and that Burke would be highly unlikely to look to the defense and Rob Blake in particular to shore up an area from the most unnecessary angle.
