We NEED a Top 2 center. They need a new direction, and they also do not have a 1st round pick next draft.
What's it gonna take?
Cammy/anyone in the pipeline not named Bernier, Purcell or Hickey/our 1st
They're going to get a lot better offers, alas. Cammy is good for one more season and then buh-bye, and a playoff-bound team will send them young NOW talent plus a package of prospects and picks.
Olli would become top-line center for the Kings, sliding Kopitar to the second line. He's that good.

Maybe, maybe not.
Olli is signed for 2 more seasons @ 5.25M compared to Cammalleri's 1 more season @ 3.35M. Cammalleri is 25, Olli is 29. So Florida gets younger, saves nearly 2 million dollars next season and most likely adds an NHL ready prospect like Harrold, Moulson or Boyle plus a Top 10 draft choice this year.
Compare that package to the proposed return du jour of Alex Tanguay+ for Jokinen.
If you were GM of the Panthers which package is more attractive?
Cammy + Gauthier and a pick not in the first round for Olli and D prospect Lojek
Best proposal yet. I wouldn't give up anybody except Cammy, strictly because of his contract. A second and maybe a lower end prospect would be sutiable, but definitely no 1st round pick. Jokinen is almost 30, and that is something to consider too with regards to how much we'd give away.

Almost 30? That's practically a fosil. I wonder if his brittle old body will be able to play out the remainder of his contract.
The fact is if the Kings want to take the next step toward being a NHL Playoff team they need an established Center to go along with Kopitar. At 29, Olli Jokinen is the perfect compliment to Anze. He's a big, physical player who is a leader in the locker room.
