Umm, I will have a hit of whatever that guy is smoking please.
What would you pay for him? I honestly don't think we'll get a first for him ESPECIALLY for the fact that he's only a short term rental. Five goals and twenty-one assists for twenty-six points in fifty-three games, what's that worth to a team that just needs a piece, maybe two to bolster their lineup for a strong run? He may be playing better, but is he the best d-man out there to be had as a rental? I honestly don't know, but just because the masses around here lose their minds and think every player should be a ppg player and every trade should weigh heavily to our favor, doesn't make Blake worth a first let alone a first +.

I believe we WILL get a first for him. But only to a team that is in SUPER serious contention. It would be done as a deal sealer, to guarantee playoff success. (Detroit, Ottawa). However, I don't think Blake would waive his NTC for Ottawa. He would for Detroit, and they know he would, so I'm sure there are some discussions between the Kings and Wings. If not a first, a good prospect, or strong roster player. Blake can still play, especially on a GOOD team.
Looking at what some guys moved for at last years deadline leads me to believe the winner of the Blake sweepstakes will have to cough up a first rounder and a prospect or every day player to beat out the other teams who want him.
It's really ALL in the demand. If the Wings and Ducks start a bidding war, the winner will be us!
It's a pipe dream to even think he was worth a 3rd or 4th rounder BEFORE he got injured. He's a rental player in the New CBA NHL, he's not 24 anymore, and now he's injured.
Since the injury his value has not gone up. But in this new CBA league it's whatever a team will pay! When you have DL as your GM, it's whatever he can pull off! A lot of folks thought Avery would be a washout in any deal but at least DL got something. Didn't he get a FIRST for Matty?
The Kings may have been tanking the better part of this year's season, but DL was in the background showcasing certain players so when the deadline hits, it might make a deal or two easier to get done. Pray for a first, but be happy with less, and some of that 12 million can be used elsewhere.

Honestly, If I am in Detroit, Ottawa, or any other town without a Duck as it's mascot I am shaking in my boots that I miss the Blake train and he ends up in Anaheim.
Expecially Detroit. They have been great all season, but if they think their fans will be ok with a 3rd round knock out by the Ducks, then they are on crack.
They know they must do what it takes to get better. And Blake does this for them. I can see a bidding war with the Wings and Ducks in the mix. Hell, look for Dallas to make a play as well.
Teams like NYR, San Jose, and so on, no. I would be surprised if they came in unless the price is VERY right.
read the friggin article. they are saying that blake is worth more than a third or a fourth round pick. what they said is that the kings should hang onto him because he is worth more than what they would get for him. only on lgk do you have to translate english into english.
