To all the folks that in the "wait to trade him as closer to the deadline so we get more for him" crowd, this is what happens.
Regardless of what the Kings say about how minor his injury is, he is hurt bad enough to sit out for a string of games.
Hopefully their are enough desperate GM's out there that they will bunch up and create a market. But honestly, this could have really hurt his value a lot.
Now, when we look at our trade-able assets, they are getting thin.
Bake...Hurt
Nagy...Hurt
Willsie...Hurt and horrible
Thorton...Hurt
Stuart...Rental. Admitted to playing hurt. Completely inconsistent.
Priesing...Weak sauce.
Cammy...Was out a long time. No Playoff experience. Not a rental.
Vis...that contract looks HORRIBLE now.
Hell, even the old, injured, weak Dallas Stars cannot put together a nice string of losses to make that pick look better.
The Kings are having troubles catching a break down to the deadline.

Unless: Conspiracy theory 1: The Red Wings (or other team) have already made a deal for Blake, but don't have cap room for him for another week or two. We don't want him to get injured before the deal goes down, so by mutual agreement he gets a little time off.
Conspiracy theory 2: Rob has agreed in principle to waive his NMC to go to a certain other team, but wants a little time with Brandi before his big playoff push with said team. We agree to IR him for a week or two in exchange for the NMC waive, and everyone plans on him coming back this summer.
Conspiracy theory 3: Conspiracy theory 1 + conspiracy theory 2
