hey, I dont disagree that Bernier was indeed the correct choice, however, the next coming of Roy, he was never pegged to be, or frankly is likely to be.
Interwebz quandary...
start Bernier now and he busts - LGK response: we should never have rushed him
start Bernier now and he takes - LGK response: Dean Lombardi FTW!
coddle Bernier and he busts - LGK response: OMGxxorz, it's Jamie Storr part 2... wish we could have found this out sooner
coddle Bernier and he takes (in two years with an equally unappealing looking young roster) - LGK response: I TOLD YOU SO!
not everyone is going to be completely happy with the decision they make. if Bernier has got it going on between the ears, then he's ready... and i choose the road less traveled by.

Kings: Labarbera = #1, Ersberg = #1A
Monarchs: Bernier = #1, Quick = #2, Zatkoff #2A (occassional conditioning assignments in Ontario
Ontario: Taylor = #1, Random goalie = #2.
I think that Manchester will carry three goaltenders at the beginning of the year and Quick/Zatkoff will battle for the backup job in practise. Bernier will get called up at some point in the year and will stay for good. I feel bad for Danny Taylor - he has done everything that has been asked of him and belongs in the AHL next year but he is likely ticketed for the ECHL.
I think Storr was more affected by the Courtnall thing than anything else.
I want Bernier starting with the Kings in Game 1, especially if the Kings do nothing to add "veteran" leadership on the D. Let all the kids grow together.
btw, its not like the veteran leadership will be around in March anyway.

Just because no one else has done it, And I like comparing his numbers. Hopefully this will give you all some more confidence in Bernier. Now, before you all get ready to flame me. I'm not trying to hype Bernier up to be the next Roy or Broduer. I just think he deserves credit for putting up comparable, if not better #'s in the same league as Marc-Andre Fleury.

Now, I'm not gonna go through all those teams and try to compare them or try to compare the level of jr hockey played when Luongo was in jr vs when Bernier was. But you've still gotta give credit where credit is due. Obviously the 06-07 Maineacs were the best team bernier played in front of with David Perron and Kris Letang, was that really that good of a team or was Bernier really that oustanding ?

Hell - all he has to do is outplay Labarbera and Ersberg in camp. He's already outplayed Labarbera once and it isn't like Ersberg is anything more than Freddie Chabot Jr. I'll be surprised if Bernier DOESN'T make the team.
Huh? You're joking, right? Was anyone even watching when Ersberg was playing last season? Why is there absolutely no love for this guy? He was stellar in front of a horrid defense. He had a .927 Save % for crying out loud. He's got a freakin velcro chest and great positioning. Rebounds are few and far between with this guy.
As far as I'm concerned Ersberg is our starter unless Bernier plays lights out for all of the preseason and for a good month into the regular season. He really should be in the AHL first. Labarabara is a capable backup and that's it.
