DISCUSS!
Kings should not go after an FA goalies at this point. Between Labarbera, Cloutier, Ersberg, Quick and Taylor - not to mention Bernier and Zatkoff in the pipeline - there is a goalie glut in LA.
I will be curious to see how Cloutier and Ersberg play out the string. Cloutier trying to revive his NHL career - Ersberg trying to establish a NHL career. If Cloutier can put together a few decent performances maybe somebody looking for a number two goalie would take him off our hands for a conditional pick?
Next years rookie and training camps promise to be VERY interesting...
I like Jonas Hiller from the Ducks. He's a restricted free agent next year. An offer sheet that screws over the Ducks but doesn't give up too many picks seems like a good albeit far-fetched idea.
I would be in absolute shock if Cloutier isn't bought out within the first 5 minutes of the season ending. The Cloutier/Aubin experiments clearly failed. We don't need another second tier goalie (Theodore) taking time from our young goalies' development.
LaBarbera has proven he is a reasonable starter. Now we just need a reasonable back up (and some stay at home d-guys) and we will be fine. Just no more has-been goalie experiments... PLEASE.
