If it weren't for the future, and guys like that developing when no one expects them to, I'd probably have nothing to look forward to with this team.
It's precisely because of this type of success that I can't understand why people give up on DL so quickly. He's explained why it's so hard to bring some top quality free agents to LA, and really, it should be obvious to people that right now, we're not the type of team that any player would really want to come play for. But with drafting like this and some shrewd trades, we're going to be a force of homegrown talent that players are going to be dying to be a part of. Mark it.
word, it isn't like its difficult to bring free agents here BECAUSE of Dean Lombardi.
man was handed a big ball of **** and he's trying to turn it into banquet dinner on the top of the finest hotel in the UAE. **** yeah.
2007 has the makings of a bumper crop draft for us. The first 7 picks all had sick seasons.
Hickey
Moller
Simmonds
Cameron
Martinez
King
Rowat
Compared to years past, 2006 wasn't too shabby either:
Jonathan Bernier
Trevor Lewis
Joey Ryan
Jeff Zatkoff
George Holloway
Niclas Andersen
David Meckler
Martin Nolet
Constantin Braun
Now if we could just get Enrico Blasi to come with him...
From your lips to gods ears.
But I am actually kind of split on it. I think Blasi is the best coach in college hockey (possibly in all of amateur hockey), but college hockey systems do not often translate to the NHL very well.
During the Breakfast with the GM, Lombardi named only two defensive prospects that he projects as having solid NHL potential right now, Thomas Hickey and Alec Martinez.
I can not wait to see what this kid can do in Manchester.
Hopefully, TJ Fast will have something to say about that. Really curious to see what he can do in the AHL.
Zatkoff had an unbelievable save due to an A.Mart turnover with just a couple of minutes left in the second. Martinez has a wicked shot and is sound positionally but has made a few glaring mistakes.
