No. You don't ask them to lose. But if they were losing before, you would expect them to continue to lose.
Hell, Brown, Anze and Sully were having a great season back in December, when the team was absolute crap. Even LaBarbera was decent in December while the team blew. The kids could still have personal success while the team was scraping the bottom of the barrel. And no one was telling them to lose then.
The way they have been playing lately is going to make the 26th even more interesting. I can't imagine that even if they are chugging along nicely come the deadline that DL will make too many moves or trade away any of our key assets. If anything I would like to see him make no moves and keep the young guys in the organization rather than trading away a guy like Moulson for a NHL regular to make a futile playoff push.
Oh and I hope this finally puts to bed all the talk about needing a better goalie. JLB has looked pretty damn "starter" with a decent D core playing in front of him.
DL won't be moving guys just to move them. They will only get moved if DL feels that he is getting the proper price for them. It's quite possible that the only players that would get moved will be Blake (only to a serious contender), Nagy, Modry and Stuart. If the Kings are doing well at the Trade deadline and Stuart is playing like he has been for the last month he might get signed to an extension. I would expect Blake to be re-signed in the summer to another 1 or 2 year contract at a greatly reduced price (5M - 6M for two yrs. or 3M for 1 yr.).
DL's gotta kinda hedge his bets by prying a 1st away from a desperate SE division team. I'm looking at the Caps. That city, if not the whole league, deserves to see AO in the playoffs, and Leonsis/McPhee couldn't be blamed for offering up a 1st for whatever it takes to get them that division crown. THEN, when it all goes pear-shaped for them, we have another top-7ish pick.
Ditto Atlanta, though the Kovalchuk injury might leave them irreparably ****ed.

No, DL has to pry away Florida's #1 Pick from Nashville at the deadline as Florida is going to be a lottery team, and Nashville is currently sitting in the 8th spot in the West and may want to load up for a run.

I don't know, I prefer seeing the team win and claw and scratch their way back up to a higher position. I mean, having a #1 would be awesome but then again, being last doesn't guarantee that. In December it was nauseating to see the team lose 8 in a row. I don't want to sit through that again. I'll take the wins please, thank you.
Play to win every game, or don't play at all. People bitch when this team loses. People bitch when this team wins. If DL really wants Stamkooooos that badly, he has the assets to trade up.

No, no, it's not that they are cheering for them to lose. They want them to play well, but it would be ideal to lose close games. That way, they still build confidence, but also build a better draft position.
Mind you, I have no idea how losing a bunch of close games is any better for a young player's confidence than just flat out losing games. To the contrary, I'd rather expect that a team playing their asses off and doing the little things right and STILL losing games would probably be even more detrimental to their confidence and development than just playing like ****.
gescom said it all, **** Stamkos, go Kings. Play your asses off and let the chips fall where they may. We already have 2 first round picks and may gain another one, I'm confident of the direction we're heading no matter where we pick.
