About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. For next season, 1 year contract.
Blake or Norstrom:
And why.
Blake will take less than 5 or he is wearing another team's colors. He has been spouting all over the place that he wants to stay in LA and it is no secret his game is on the decline... That means paycut. He will re-sign for under $4 million for 1 year. Norstrom likely doesn't return. Blake is already tied into the organization, has a bigger name, and is identified more as being a franchise King. He has taken to JMFJ and will continue as captain. He doesn't need the money and he wants to retire here, get his name in the rafters, and run the office with Robitaille. That won't happen if he bitches about getting $5 million and he is not going to risk it.

Do any of these aspects make the Kings a better team?
Do any of these aspects make the Kings a better team?
Not disagreeing, just a follow-up question.
Somewhat yes. The Kings need a good veteran defenseman especially to help out their younger defenseman like JMFJ. He certainly isn't what he used to be but he is also not the worst they could do and not that bad in the long run. He is going to put up 30+ points this season like he did last so he is not a complete flop although he has glaring minuses at -26 and -16. Since the Kings couldn't trade him they have to re-sign him, but Blake will be playing to DL's drum this time around unlike the deadline where DL was playing to his. Blake held the keys to the trade but DL holds the keys to his future with the team up to and beyond retirement. All this and Norstrom may not be in the NHL this season.
