FIRST PERIOD 19:45: Kovalchuk gains the offensive zone on the left wing, pulls up and leaves a drop pass for Afinogenov. Afinogenov toses a wrister at the cage. Johnson makes the easy save.
19:25: Tobias Enstrom takes a pass at the left point and snaps off a wrister on net. Johnson gloves it.
18:38: Luca Caputi steps on to an NHL rink for the first time this season off a line change.
18:29: Rich Peverly wins a clean faceoff in the left circle in the Penguins' zone against Malkin. The puck comes to Christoph Schubert who drives a slapper on net. Johnson eats it up.
18:26: Peverly wins another faceoff and once again Schubert smacks a one-timer at the cage. Johnson boots it away with his left foot.
17:50: So much for these new lines. Caputi is on the ice with Crosby and Malkin. They're giving him every chance to succeed.
17:10: Pavel Kubina goes deep behind the Penguins' net and gets tripped up by accident by an official.
