Default Stick Opinion

Due to a family member hookup, I can get a pretty good price on this stick. It has the pattern I really like (Naslund) and seems like it will be a good deal.

Has anyone used this model? Is it prone to breaking easily. I use the Bauer Naslund blades and I love them to death. I have never used a one-piece stick before, so I thought I would ask around before I spend my hard-earned money.

Some of the more recent Nike-Bauer composites have been pretty heavy. The stick I bought after my wood stick broke (after 5 years) is a balistiks

http://www.ballistichockey.ca/products/item.aspx?id=25

only 135 Canadian for this one and it is super light, and love it!!!!!!!!!! Got mine at PIAS in Redondo Beach for 65 as a game used pro stock

The Bauer's seem pretty durable however I bet that one is pretty heavy and most who use the one piece like them light.

when the phrase "pretty heavy" is used, it is still lighter than any wood stick and most 2 piece combos.

Im an easton guy, but that is a very nice stick that will be very durable.

Some of the Bauer's do feel as heavy as some of the wood sticks. I know on my old team a guy had one, played on my game with it and wanted to get rid of it. (I believe it was a Bauer 190).

Also search ebay for some deals.

depends on which bauer stick you're talking about. i'm using an xxx lite and it's really light. i've heard of some durability issues with the xxx lites, but that's another story.

the vapor's will work fine for you i'm sure. if anything ever happens to my xxx lite, i'll probably go back to a dolomite again since i never had issues with inno/warrior.

These sticks are fairly new, so you might not find too many folks who have had one for a significant period of time. According to the folks at ModSquadHockey, the Bauer XII is the 2007 version of the Bauer V (http://www.hockeymonkey.com/bauervapor5sr.html).

Of the beer league folks I know, the Bauer V was a good pricepoint stick for those who didn't want to spend $150+ on a composite stick.

Off the top of my head, the Bauer V was something like 525-550 grams. The usual top of the line sticks tend to be 400-450. So it might be noticeably heavier if you have noodle arms like me.

In general, the blade is probably a little worse in comparison to the more expensive models and might get a little soft with time.

But a lot of times, it's just personal preference.

i agree. It is the same as the vapor v from last year. It is very heavy and very prone to breakage. My teammate has broken 3 vapor v's this year, but if you can get a good deal on it, heck try it. Sticks are all personal preference.

?? come on Roody, what kind of hookup can it be if you are looking to spend ANY money?

A friend just bought one of these composites for twice the listed price (of your proposed stick), and when I picked it up, I could not believe how light it was.

I have to get one, can you hook me up too?

Seriously, just get it already and let us know how you like it.

maybe you are talking about the new xxxx, because the stick we are talking about is 550 grams, which is very heavy for a composite stick. This stick is $90 and the xxxx is $180, so I think you are talking about the xxxx

Thanks for everyone's help!!

As far as weight, durability, etc, I really don't care. Bauer has the pattern I like (Naslund) and I am using an old-school Louisville Lockjaw shaft with a Bauer wood blade, so it can't be any heavier than that. I have used the blade in less than 10 roller games, and the blade is beat to hell.
