Default Skate Baking info

I just got some new inline skates and want to bake them, although I've never done it before. Whats the rules about how long you should wait untill you use them after baking? Also i wanted to know if anyone knows a good place to get it done if I live in Laguna Hills (south orange county). Theres a Play it Again Sports that i think has one (although im not sure that would be the best place), 949 hockey has one, and the anaheim hockey club has one i think. Do i need to know anything before i go or is it straight forward? thanks in advance

I don't think the shop matters as long as they have a skate baking oven. I'm also pretty sure you can use your skates after baking as long as everything on the skate has cooled down and dried up... I would wait a couple hours just to be sure... or wait for someone to chime in with the right answer.

Other than that here's some info that your LHS will prolly tell you anyway
1) pull your laces outwards and not upwards
2) don't lace too tight when skate baking but snug enough to form your foot (or else you'll overstretch the boot)
3) don't walk around in them
4) it usually takes 15 minutes for the boot to cool down on your foot

If you live in OC, the simplest answer is to go to Hawk Hockey (http://www.hockeymonkey.com/info.html#contactus) in Santa Ana. They will take care of everything (including telling you how long to wait between baking & first skate .... I was always told 24-48 hours for the ice skates I've bought in the past).

HockeyMonkey will treat you the best. Make sure that if you wear socks when you play, you wear that exact type of sock when you bake. Many people play in thin socks, but bring in thick cotton socks when they bake their skates and they dont get a true fit. After baking them, stay off them for 24hrs.

Pop those boys in the freezer and you can skate on them in far less time than 24 hours .
Been there done that a million times .

Do it yourself. Set your oven on 185, throw them in there for 3-4 mins and go for it!

i agree with hawk hockey/hockeymonkey...they're closer than anaheim to you. you could get it done at play it again too. but i'm sure you'll have a lot of fun at hawk and find other things to spend your money on too...

Recommended skate cool down is 8 to 12 hours after baking...

Really? How long did you have to warm it for?
