For used gear the only two places that come to mind are Play It Again Sports and ebay.

went to play it again...Most of it was kids stuff. Saw a lot of old skates but none in my size.

Saw some easton skates that fit decently but looked like they'd been through a blender a few times. I asked him if the pricing was firm because they needed new laces and runners and were overall pretty beat. The smartass working there tried telling me they had only been used for 1 season. When I told him I doubted it was true unless they were from an NHLer he told me travel ice hockey players go through 2 pairs of skates a season. That's when I left the skates on the counter and took off.

I think I'm just going to give in and buy the new cheap stuff...My only qualm is none of this new equipment lasts. They all have too many bells and whistles that just end up breaking, either that or they're made to be too light. I just need stuff that works.

depends...yeah some of the newer stuff won't last as long because they're trying to get light and all, but some of the new technology does help improve protection and performance.

if you're looking for graf skates, they haven't changed much over the years. the 7xx series are still around. so i don't think you'd have a problem with those. as for the other brands, most of the older models have been discontinued or changed to something newer/lighter and the fit is mostly different too. good luck.

Ebay is what I was thinking. I still have a bunch of old hockey equipment catalogs back from the mid 90's and it sucks looking through them. There's a bunch of gear in there I'd rather have than some of the gear they're making nowadays. Altough, I do prefer some newer gear such as shoulder pads, elbow pads, and shin guards.

I am working on some CCM super tacks I saw on ebay.

maybe I'm just a bit old school but the only things I really invested in were good skates. Everything else is just there to play in, eventually if you try and bundle yourself up for 100% protection you just can't move out there.

I will say having well padded hockey pants help a lot though.

VegasHockey,

Yeah, I have old catalogs ranging from 95-98 or so from Ocean Hockey, Rupps, Great Skate, London Hockey Source, and possibly a few others. I think they're all in a container somewhere in my parents garage. I've ordered equipment from all but Great Skate but all 4 listed are good places.

Craigslist is good for used gear too.

Go to their website, they're pretty much the only one left that sends out actual catalogs in the mail. I just got one a few weeks ago.
