Has anyone heard what is going on with the proposed new rink in Pasadena?
Are they actually going to build the new facility in our lifetime or are they just going through the same political crap they have to go through. I heard about this years ago but have not even heard about them breaking ground...
The current Pasadena rink right now is horrible and outdated.

Havent heard anything since over a year ago. It is supposed to be built somewhere in the area between Sierra Madre Villa-Rosemead, north of foothill. No idea whats really going to happen though. The Pasadena city councils' been really busy of late, what with the dinasaurs dying off and all.
Doesn't Pasadena have odles of folks with deep pockets? You'd think if the market & demand were really there, some of these people would get together and build the rink with private funds. Why is a rich community relying on the glacial momentum of government to get 'er done?

because it is fondly referred to as "The Peoples Republic of Pasadena"
Last time I skated was at Pasadena. The ice was terrible, fell a couple of times but then a kid cut me off, I fell backwards on my wrist and tore the joint open. It took a year to get it back. But the kid was fine.
The rink has the blueprints for the new facility on display at the entrance of the current rink. It will have two rinks end to end. looks pretty nice. It does not say when the rink will actually be built though.

Pasadena's new rink will be the home ice of the Pasadena Maple Leafs. The old rink or rink now is old and used to be some sort of ballroom. It is going to be switched back into a ballroom when the new one is complete but I guess the air condition will be awesome. The ice sucks, the lighting sucks etc but the new one will hopefully get other local rinks to upgrade. I heard Bay Harbor is ready to renovate teh old rink too.
Pasadena to have two NHL size rinks and seating for 500 spectators. The scheduled opening is June 2009

Thank god. There's a staggering demand for ballrooms in 21st-century America.
City Council Meeting on Feb. 25 @ 7pm in Pasadena City Hall (100 N. Garfield). Voice your support for the new ice rink. Last time only one person spoke up for the rink.
