I would really like to play ice hockey but no nothing whatsoever about ice skated. I would love any input on what type of skates to get and how much new ice skates generally cost.
ice skates aren't that expensive compared to roller hockey skates. it all depends on what you want and what type of boot fits you. buying last years models also save you cash too.
If you like the roller skates you have, chance are there is a similar model in an ice skate.
thanks, i actually hadn't thought about that, but my rollerskates are almost 7 years old so I wouldn't even know what was just the updated model of the ones I have.
I have just bought a new pair of Mission AG90s this season and absolutely love them. I have extremely wide feet and have never had a pair of skates that fit comfortably until owning these skates. I bought the E width, but even if you don't have particularly wide feet I'd have to recommend these skates. They heat them up in an oven at the Hockey store I bought them at, and then you sit with them on and the mold to your foot shape. These skates virtually eliminated the break-in. I have used them in about 6 or 7 games now and am noticably more agile. I love em and would highly recommend them.

Your feet will tell you which skates to get. (For example, I love Graf but I don't skate well with them. I love Missions but sometimes the boot tends to be a little uncomfortable. The most comfortable skates I've ever tried on are Easton so that's what I use right now.)
Skates cost anywhere from $70 (if you find used ones at some sort of clearance or get lucky somewhere at a Kings' end of the season sale or something) to $500 for good top of the line Grafs.
I jus bought a pair of bauer vapor XXX. I haven't got to skate in them yet but walkin around in them in the store, they felt great. Hopefully I will get to try them out tomorrow.
