In my 40 & over Ice League here in Denver last Sunday.
Get to the rink, see some of the guys, suit up and we get 5 skaters and our goalie. Hoping someone else will show up the puck drops.
Played the entire freakin game with no subs - jebus fruking crimany.
Managed to make it to the end standing but was pretty f'd up for about 5 days.
Not sure but I think I should have tried to do some cardio work the next day or something.
I'm sure its not as bad as tournament stuff or 2 games in 1 day but I think I need to get a better regimen for working out after allot of skating.
Anyone got any good ideas ideas for stuff like this?
during the game pace yourself, i played as a sub in a league game for roller last sunday and we only had the 4 of us, it was brutal, but yeah just pace yourself, take advantage of any whistles and keep yourself hydrated any chance you get, then again im only 25 so the effects might not wreck as much havok on my body as yours.

For sure on the hydration. I totally screwed up my hydration cycle in the 1st cuz I figured someone was going to show up by leaving my powerade on the back of the bench. I finally was able to get at it with about 5 minutes left, should have left it open on the floor right by the boards. The ref's were really trying to move the game along, which was not too coll but oh well.
Hit a jacuzzi and get horizontal as much as possible.
If this happens again just play like Roenick did for us: skate slow and in circles, act tough but don't touch anyone or anything while on the ice and cry to the ref about any contact you receive.
wow that must have sucked nothing you can really do when the refs are like that i suggest you miss your next game so you can have time to rest unless your in the playoffs then just deal with it i know that sucks, but your team needs you in the playoffs

This has worked for me after running a marathon or playing a whole game like you did. Fill up your bathtub with cold water until it is over your legs. Add a large bag (or two) of ice and stay in there as long as you can stand it. Then take a warm shower. Your legs will feel a lot better right away.
