About This Page: This is a discussion on Hockey Players Forum within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. For the past year and a half, I've been learning hockey at Culver City Ice Arena. During all their open skates, they always have people skating counter-clockwise....and never change directions.
For the past year and a half, I've been learning hockey at Culver City Ice Arena. During all their open skates, they always have people skating counter-clockwise....and never change directions. So consequently, my crossovers and such are a helluva lot better going one way than the other.
I've since graduated onto going to stick times, but I still like to hit the open ice and just work on skating from time to time. So I'm wondering, are there any rinks around where they skate the majority of the time clockwise? Even rinks where they alternate from time to time would be good.
I only ever go on Mondays, and there's usually a goalie, sometimes two. It's pretty open, except that half the ice is usually taken up by some 3 on 3. I'd say there's anywhere from 15 - 20 skaters in attendance.
They have stick times Sunday morning 7:15 to 8:45 (too early for me) and Tuesday evening too 6:15 - 7:00 (totally packed).
I played at the old Thousand Oaks Rink next to Home Depot and then the more recent rink on Easy Street in Simi Valley and they always switched halfway through the public skate.
