I have a Sony rear projection TV (Wega SXRD) that I bought exactly a year ago and this weekend I noticed a very faint blue rainbow/streak on the lower right hand side. I really only see it when there is a light background on the screen. I've been looking online and I've read it could be the optical block which is expensive. Any other ideas?

Well, I bought the TV on February 2, 2007. So the parts that apply under the 1 year warranty are no longer covered. However, I just went over the form and it specifically states that the optical block is under a 2 year warranty. The problem is, I don't know what the problem is. I'm pretty sure it's not the lamp.
Edit: Wow, I just read that in order to receive warranty service after the first year, I have to send the product to them. I'm 2 days past the freakin' in-home diagnostic warranty service. How the hell am I supposed to send them a 50" projection set?

Thanks for the responses. I called Sony yesterday and they said that I'd have to pay for a diagnosis and if there is something wrong with it, they would pay for the fix if it falls under the warranty. The optical block is the only thing that is still under warranty. Of course, then I go home to see if the problem has gotten worse, and in fact, it's not even there anymore. I've got a year to see if the optical block has any real problems so I'll wait it out for a bit and make sure it's really faulty. Hopefully it was just some weird thing that won't happen again.
