Default Which LapTop whould we get??SPSony?Toshiba?

HP dv6450us at Office max where it is cheap, cheaper warranty, but it would be tough to fix when there is a problem (have to ship)

OR

a Toshiba A205-54797 or SONY Vaio CR Model at Best Buy where it is more $$$ and the warranty is more $$$ but the GEEK squad can fix it right there.

This is for my wife and she has a TOshiba and loves the performance of her old one but the new Toshiba she doesn't like the silver casing it is made of and feels it will wear out.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a Sony VAIO VGN-FE550G that I got February of last year for about $1700. Yeah, it was more but I freaking love it. The Xbrite screen makes a huge difference. However, those HP laptops are pretty sweet too but they are fat and heavy.

I'd get the Sony, they are more expensive but, from my experience, the build quality has been much better!

I have been home building my own Wintel machines for a while now, and most of the apps I use are windows based, and I have been thinking about picking up a MacBook Pro and running Windows through Bootcamp on it. They are a nice piece of hardware.

Whoever is in charge of marketing for Apple is a ****ing genius. They make people w/ macs and other apple products think that they are better than everyone else and have those people do the marketing for them haha.

A mac is just a simple man's computer. If you can't deal with learning how to use a PC, get a Mac and stay computer illiterate forever.

You mean "computer illiterate" as in not knowing how to fend off a virus or not knowing how to rebuild your dead computer.

No, he means computer illiterate, as in not knowing how to "right click."

In essence, macs are not just simple, they're stupid. If you can't figure out windows XP or vista, you probably should buy a mac; even though they are virtually the same. If you think that by using a mac you're sticking it to the man? guess what, you're just paying a different man. If you think by using a mac you're cutting edge, technology wise? Nope, but you are cutting edge marketing wise. If you think that buying a mac says something about your life, it probably does.

PS - toshibas are also good.

Cheapest option is do a special order from the website. Get the best video card and CPU. Everything else can be upgraded at dirt cheap prices. (i.e. 4GB memory upgrade for $159 from Fry's). Or get an Mac. (Just so you all know I hate Apple but if you're going to spend more than $1200 get the best that's out there)
