OKay now I am going to probably be getting an LCD TV around Christmas or such from Costco. I am really liking the Sony Bravia XBR in the 46 in model. Are these any good? How are people's experiences with them? I have a 32 in WEGA right now and like it. Also, are LCD TV's good for areas where there is light coming in (will be close to a window, though there is a shade on it) All help will be appreciated. Also, looking to get the Bravia wireless home theater with the upconverting DVD player and such. Gracias for helping me spend my rebate from buying a new house
I have a 42" LCD, but not from Sony, so I can't really say anything about them.
Anyway, most LCDs are build with a mat surface, so there won't be any reflections. My TV also stands near a huge window and gets a lot of sunlight, but there are absolutely no reflections, don't worry. However, some manufacturers want to make their TVs fancy and add a layer of glass, which, of course, will reflect sunlight, so watch out.
how heavy is the Bravia XBR? I want to mount it to an entertainment center from crate and barrel that has a panel to attach the tv and I do not want to break the thing
We just purchased a Samsung A750 series LCD and we absolutely love it. We also liked the XBR4 series but Sony is releasing XBR 6, 7 and 8 series later this year. XBR 4 is a model first released in 2007.
As regards glossy screens, much depends on the amount of ambient light in the area in which the TV will placed. If sources of glare are not in the direct viewing area, then you will not have a problem.
Most LCDs do have anti-glare screens and are recommended for high light areas. I would assume we are talking about glossy frames here.

Both the XBR4 and XBR5 weigh 73 lbs. That's about 3 lbs heavier than the Sharp 46", but 5 lbs lighter than the Samsung.

does anyone here have experience with the entertainment centers that come with a panel to attach the TV to/ I was just wondering how heavy of a TV those things could handle.

It depends on the unit. It should tell you in the specs what the max size & weight it can handle.

I was trying to scout that for him on the C&B site, but like most manufacturers, they say "up to 60-inch LCD/Plamsa" but not mention weight. (Even in the manual for the media center.)
I know Crate and Barrel is soo great with that and I don't want to bring my tv home, mount it, and then...SMASH. Gracias for the help...I cannot wait for HD
