About This Page: This is a discussion on Computers/Tech/Photo within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Guys, any recommendations for in-ear headphones. I want to keep it under $50. i've mostly been looking at denon and sennheisser. thanks.
If you want your music to sound good, you're gonna have to pay the price. It is nearly impossible to get good bass from sub-$200 in-ear headphones, let alone sub-$50 headphones.
I have Shure E5cs which I absolutely love. Unfortunately, they cost an arm and a leg. If you could just squeak your budget up to no more than $100, you should be able to get a really nice sounding set. I like Sennheiser and Shure, but I've also heard good things about Ultimate Ears.

believe me...i'd love to have a higher budget...stupid college is killing me!!! there's way too many choices for headphones. i'm a tech guy, but even i think the selection is crazy. looks like its time i did some comparing.

I hate in ear headphones. I've tried them all and even owned the Shures till my dog ate them. I never wore them though because these over the ear ones KICK ASS and have great BASS!

how are the sennheisser px200's? they look like a closed model of the px100. i want to be able to use them at the library, so maybe a closed model is better? i already have a pair of grado sr60's so i'm not sure if i need another open model. what do you guys think?

If over the ear cans are now in the picture, I know a lot of people won't agree with me, but if you want to hear every detail of the music, as it was recorded, Sony MDR-7506, game, set, match. There is a reason they are studio monitors around the world. They are a bit more than you want to spend though. A lot of people don't like them because they can be very harsh with poorly recorded music, but I find they are very faithful.
I can't stand anything in my ear. After a while I start to get a head ache and my ears stat to hurt at the pressure spots where the ear phone is sitting. I don't like wires either so I use these:
I ended up getting the sennheisser px100s. i love them! i'm so glad that i didn't go the in-ear route. they fold up pretty nicely too. i think i may like them better than my grado sr-60s!!!
thanks for the advice rinkrat!

harsh with poorly recorded music yet they are studio headphones?
sorry Charlie, but you ain't going to find ANY quality reference phones for under $100.
the ones i have -- Sennheiser HD280 Pro are about a hundred bucks now (about the same as 7506s)... and i got them a coupe of years ago.
Sony phones tend to being far too bright for reference, where Sennheisers have always had a great reputation of neutral response phones.

Like I said, a lot of people wont agree with me I will admit that I was quite over the top with my whole "game, set, match" review, but the detail they produce is quite good, and I can't speak for the recording environment, but in live stage / concert, their are a fair number I know who are quite attached to them, so don't count them out as a pro set of cans is all I'm saying
