About This Page: This is a discussion on Computers/Tech/Photo within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. I am decidedly unimpressed with Adorama.com.

I placed an order on the 23rd for six items. $2,100 worth of stuff. All were shown to be "in stock" and ready for shipment. I chose UPS 3-day shipping. I haven't gotten squat.
Order lists as "pending." Pending what?
Call... "We're too busy. Call us back in a couple hours. Or try email," says the automated system.
Email...no responses. At all.
They say that my satisfaction is the only thing that's important to them.
So far, I don't buy it.

Hmm, that is interesting. I have noticed they always tend to get their packages to you on the last day of their shipping estimate if you are on the west coast, but it sounds like they totally blew it on this one. I would be concerned / annoyed, but not worried. They are a reputable company (I have ordered a fair amount from them both direct and through Amazon), so you aren't totally screwed. If you can get someone on the phone, let you dissatisfaction be known to them, and tell them you should have gone B+H, and see if they throw you a consolation prize for your wait.
I've dealt with them a couple times with fair results. I've always had a little trepidation though. B+H on the other hand has always been straight with me and often exceeded expectations. These days I will pay more for the confidence of dealing with B+H if I am going to do mail order. Sorry to hear about your experience. I know how grueling it can be to have to sit and wait for new toys to come.
(I got me new toy last week - it's not a camera, it's a computer! Gotta deal with these larger files now.)
I have never used them before, but as DF said, I've heard of fair/mixed results. Some live by them. Some loathe them.
Placing an order on Easter Sunday doesn't mean a whole lot, as they wouldn't process an order on Sunday anyway.
Even so, say they were flooded with orders/calls on Monday. I still don't see why your order didn't ship yet. Hell, you should have it in hand today at the latest.
Pseudo OT, but I placed an order with J&R on the morning of 3/21 for some Blu-ray titles that were part of their "Blu-ray Blowout." After an nearly an entire week of my order being in a "pending" status, they shipped the order, and I received it this past Saturday. All of the items were "in stock." While I don't think it's unreasonable to receive my order a week later with their "free shipping." But to have the order in a "pending" status for 6 days, while others who ordered after me, with similar titles were RECEIVING their orders before mine had even shipped was very frustrating.
Of those 2 or 3 that I speak of, they lived on the East Coast. Hmm. It seems the "East Coast Bias" theory exists elsewhere, too. This may have something to do with the idea that they have less time to service an order on the EC. It's a bull**** reason, but I bet they've used it before.
Anyway....

Sorry to hear that though. What toys did you get?
The 14mm f/2.8 aspherical, two additional SB-800 Speedlights, an SU-800 Speedlight Commander, and a remote cord.
I finally got a hold of the them yesterday at about 10am. They told me that someone had dropped the ball and not moved the lens from the used stock room to the shipping prep room. That's why my order had stalled. He told me yesterday that they'd have it shipped out by the end of the day.
This morning, the order still shows "pending." I'm trying to call and getting the same run-around I got yesterday morning.
If this keeps up, I'm going to cancel the whole shebang and place the order with B&H instead. The only reason I went with Adorama was because they had it all in-stock (whereas B&H was backordered on some items) and they had the 14mm lens in E+ used which saved me like $400.

Held again for a half hour this morning. Finally got a hold of someone. The lady told me she'd take care of it personally, and that I should call her back directly after 3:30pm Eastern to get a tracking number. When I asked her if she'd upgrade me to next-day shipping for my trouble, she said she'd ask her boss and have an answer for me when I called back.
We'll see how this goes.

Hi
I've just picked up on yur post; the first thing I must do is apologise, unreservedly.
This is not normal Adorama customer service, and I'm extremely concerned that your experience has been so dreadful.
Please contact me directly at helen.oster@adoramacamera.com, with your order number - and if possible, the name(s) of the sales team representative that spoke to you.
There is no question at all but that we can, & will, expedite your order.
Again, my most sincere apologoies
Sincerely
Helen Oster
Adorama Camera Customer Service Ambassador
Helen is the real deal. Hopefully she can help you out.
Well, given that today is April Fool's Day, I'm highly skeptical that she's not just some random one of you who's created a new login name here to yank my chain.
We shall see.

Alrighty. I've got a tracking number. They upgraded my shipping from standard to UPS 2-day air.
I'm not sure exactly where the bottleneck in their ordering system was, but they've got it on its way, now. Thanks to Helen and Angela for digging around and finding out what the issue was.
And thanks to LGK for giving me a place to vent about it.
