About This Page: This is a discussion on Computers/Tech/Photo within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. I used to use a program for PC called FruityLoops to make beats and what not. DOes anyone know of a similar program that is compatible on a MAC? Thanks!

Yeah, if you want to just mess with loops, you've got GarageBand built in. (If you bought a newer Mac.)
If you have an Intel Mac, Fruity Loops is supported on Boot Camp on a Mac.

Garage Band ain't quite FL. however, with s*** like Reason or Acid, he could do a number of things and dump them into Garage Band.
again, what he's looking for all depends on how adept he was with Fruity Loops to begin with... if he's looking to sequence a few loops and drum patterns, Garage Band would be plenty, with all those Jam Packs and such. if he's looking to do time compression/expansion or like real-time sample inverts and stuff, he's going to have to get something like Logic or Cubase.

Didn't I say that in less words?
I only mentioned GB as it's enough for most people goofing around with loops.
I've tried the loops sounds in Garageband, and they are lame. Yeah like you said Gescom, I would like to do sample inserts, and create my own drum kit sounds and what not based on sounds I've recorded. Can I do these kinds of things on Reason or Acid? I have Ableton Live, but I haven't really messed with it yet. So I have to get Bootcamp eh? I was hoping to avoid that. =) Thanks again.

When it comes to things like that, I wouldn't use a pirated program. Music is my passion and I would like to work in the industry one day soon as a sound engineer or producer, so it would be like stealing money from my colleagues. =) But thanks, I'll have to check it out.

Yeah, I don't have too much sympathy when it comes to lining the pockets of record companies and those who are still collecting royalties, but software is different for me for a number of reasons.
Good luck in your search. Let us know what you find.
I, too, would recommend you use Reason as your alternative program. Bootcamp is, of course, included in Leopard and would allow you to keep using FruityLoops. Is your Mac an Intel or a PowerPC?
Reason is a pretty solid app if you're on a Mac environment... though the "step sequencer" on FL Studio is a much better tool for laying down drum patterns. Wiring FL in Cubase FTW!

Dammit. So I need Leopard then. I didn't know that. thanks for the info!
