Hey guys...how are the virtual surround systems like the Sony DREAM system and the Bose 3-2-1 system. I like th eidea of less cords and am not a super audiophile. I know th lifestyle systems are supposed to be great. I am just wondering about the price (like 800 for the 3-2-1 and like 500 for the Sony Dream SYstem)
I just bought the ''GSX'' model off e-bay, which has the built in hard drive and am very happy with the sound. I use it with my 360 and to mainly to watch movies.
My friends were all blown away with how loud the two little speakers produce.
As for the surround sound with no speakers in the rear, it does a good job. Doesn't sound like 100% surround but darn close.
if anyone purchases a loudspeaker made by Bose, i laugh.
that is all.
i didn't want to be mean, but yeah. i think you can find some good choices for less money that will perform just as good if not better. unless you are totally set on that system.
I have the Bose Lifestyle 48.....I am very happy with it. I think most any Sony products are very well produced. I think either the Sony or the Bose 3 2 1 would be fine.

Yeah... I have their home theater speakers (bought them used from a co-worker 5 years ago at 1/3 price), and it's very underwhelming, just never got around to changing them.

my recommendations would have people shooting for the moon, and that just isn't always the most feasible... and considering most of us view in either small or medium (on the small side) rooms and stereo furniture can become a bit of a nuisance, i suggest going on Gallo satellites. but instead of using their sub (which is passive), i'd go wtih a nice (and small) powered sub from like Velodyne.
Ges and anyone else...do they have a system similar to the 3-2-1??? I like the home theater idea and the sound, but don't want to deal with the wires (6 month old son crawling etc and wires= not a good mix). Yeah the 800 is a lot, but that is why I like the sony system, but it is only 2.1 and does not fully emulate the 5.1 sound
Bose is way overpriced and you are paying more for the name than anything else. Gescom is correct that you could get way better for much less. Take a look at an audio or home theater magazine for suggestions on what to buy.
I have a decent Denon receiver that is 100x7 that I could sell for $130 and you can spend the rest on a decent 5.1 set. What's the room layout? You can always set rear speakers on the walls.
My parents have a 3-2-1 system and I was not impressed.
when it comes to bose....just say no. no. no no!!!!!! its overpriced. get yourself a nice 2.1 setup or just bite the bullet and set up a surround system like i did. i'd recommend a speaker company called NHT. they're not a huge speaker company, but they're reasonably priced, sound amazing, and are based out of California (i think?). look them up.
