So my HP laptop has this Wireless Assistant thingie... basically there is a switch that you turn on or off (it always stays on for me) and it does some **** to detect the network connections and all that. I mean, without this thing being on, it's like your network options don't even exist.
Well the thing just disappeared a few weeks ago. I mean like the stupid computer doesn't just say it is off, it just isn't there. Weird thing, it's like hardware, but also kind of like an application, if that makes any sense.
So anyway, does anyone have a laptop with this thing and have you ever had this problem? I'm getting really sick of having to go in the other room and sit at my desk to do stuff online instead of being comfy on my bed, you know?
Thanks. That first one isn't the issue... I can't even SEE my wireless connections to be able to re-enter anything without the WA showing up first. What a ****ing pita. Maybe I'll try that second one.
have one. Been having the issue for about 5 months.
reinstall is a temporary help, which is more than I can say for HP Tech Support.

Yeah, I had some issue months ago (can't remember what), for which I chatted with an HP tech dude online and he actually fixed it. But now I can't do that because I can't ****ing get online!
What about when you call HP tech support and give them not only the series number, but the serial number of YOUR COMPUTER to be told that "all you need is to restart" only to be transfered to another guy and have to do it again. Then, when that doesnt work get transfered again to go through the basic steps of reinstall that you did six times on your own before calling. Then when THAT doesnt work, get put on hold YET AGAIN just to have to sit through the step-by-step process of completely wiping your hard drive for a clean install of the entire system as directed of a guy you know is somewhere in India filing his nails or forking through the curry you wish you could be eating but youre trapped on the phone waiting for this guy to decide that your computer is actually ****ed up enough to get permission to send it in and not be able to work for a month while HP is holding it hostage in Indiana??
Uh yeah....I was asking so that I would have the information necessary for me to look FOR YOU. If that small bit of information is to much to ask then be my guest and give this guy a call instead...
Wow, touchy. Anyway, it's like DV6040 or something close to that. I'd need to check when I get home, I guess. But basically I think it's all the same with the HP laptops that have this particular thing on them.
