Is being released on Tuesday and holy crap do i ever recomend it, particuarly for the Earth part of the album. I thought they really outdid themselves with the first 2 volumes but these 2 blow those out of the water.
Too bad they really didnt start tapping into their creativness to create these masterpieces until Vheissu.
While you don't consider their first 3 albums creative, there's clearly a maturation and refinement of their talent from one disk to the next.
I give it up to them for legitimately distinguishing themselves and creating their own sound despite cutting their musical teeth conforming and fitting safely within the confines of the early 2000s "screamo" mold.
****ing great band.

i'm allover it this tuesday. can't wait. i'm seeing them at the end of may also... i've been excited since i got the tix a month or two ago.
i'm with DRD. i fell in love with them when i watched them open for AFI back in 2000 and they're the only openers i've ever fallen for right away and bought their album right at the show. identity crisis seems like a typical screamo album, but there were subtle indications that they were more talented than what was out there in the scene on so many levels. dustin's lyrics and the technical aspect of their melodic rhythm and guitars were well above what you'd hear from a lot of other bands. i've just been amazed with how much they've evolved and yet kicked ass on each subsequent release.

bet you're glad they hardly play stuff off that album anymore... probably the oldest song they'll play now is "deadbolt". i saw them at chain after a shirts for a cure benefit 3 yrs ago and they said it was the last time they'd play "t&c".

I saw em at the roxy right as illusion of safety was coming out. (really liked that album too) I think under par, t&c, and phoenix ignition were the only songs played off identity crisis at that point anyway. I really did enjoy that album.
some years back saw them open for dashboard confessional at the bren center (weird lineup). Pretty much no songs from IC played. After the set finished and they exited, about 40 people sitting by me all started singing phoenix ignition for the hell of it. pretty funny
more power to em as it appears the new stuff is being received well

ahhh. why not? (just curious). and i'm getting the feeling they probably won't play much old stuff now that they've got vol.s 1-4 to play as well as stuff off vheissu.

my favorite off identity crisis is "ultra blue", heh... it's the song that i remember the most from seeing them for the first time and ya... they haven't played that one in a LONG time.

i didn't like vheissu at first, but it grew on me. now i love all their albums equally and it's hard to pick which i like because they're all so different.

Anyway, is The Alchemy Index: Vols I & II: Fire & Water album pretty good? I'm negating whether I should buy this album too.
i didn't like it as much as vheissu, but i was waiting to get vol.s 3&4 and give all 4 a listen as a complete album before i made up my mind. i'm listening to the stream of air and earth and really like it. maybe i'll get back with you after i do the whole vol.s 1-4 listening thing. i know the OP likes it.
and hey vq/leatherface! (if you look at this thread)... i was looking at my liner notes for these guys' 1st album and i don't know how i missed it, but they thank leatherface in their thank yous section. it's been right under my nose for 8 yrs. heh.
they also thank the zine i used to write for... that's the closest i've made into liner notes. (that i know of)
