About This Page: This is a discussion on Media, Movies and Music within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Who else is excited for this movie? I love Paul Thomas Anderson and Daniel Day Lewis is the MF MAN!
All of the reviews i've read say it's awesome and
Don't forget Paul Dano, one of the better young actors out there. I'll be waiting for this to go to a little wider release, but I'll definitely be seeing it.
You need to get some Bill Hicks on your iPod, Mr I.
The score is ****ing fantastic, by the way. Been listening to it regularly in my car.
Probably see the movie sometime soon.
I love me Bill Hicks, how did I miss this reference??? My last Ipod killed my ability to listen to any song in it's entirety, so no more Ipod's for me...

I'm ssuper excited for this film. Daniel Day Lewis is a phenomenal actor. He was the only aspect of "Gangs of New York" that kept me in my seat...and cringing. He commanded every scene and was just terrifying and fascinating in a way a lightning storm is...Of course, not showing anywhere near me either....
First off, this is a very difficult movie to take in at one sitting. What I mean is, there are a lot of layers to the story and peeling them all away is not simple, for either the viewer or the people who made the film.
The movie is completely wired to Daniel Day-Lewis and his perfomance is stellar. In fact, his performance is so riveting, it almost buried the story at times, making the movie more of a singular character study than a story about a man hell-bent on making himself into an oil baron and all the relationships and events that get built up and destroyed taking him to that point.
There are deep flaws, with hiccups in the plot and a few lesser actor's performances left in the wake of Day-Lewis' oeuvre. It jumps around a bit too much and feels disjointed at times. And a few critical plot situations are tied up rather lazily.
Still, There Will Be Blood is thoughtful and challenging and I appreciate it when something like that comes along. It's far from a tidy package so if you go to the movies to kick back and mindlessly enjoy yourself for a couple of hours, you need to steer clear of this one. A couple of arguments broke out behind me (a sold out Arclight) between a group who really liked the film and a couple who clearly did not. But it's that kind of movie- divisive and not intended to be beloved by everyone.
Anyway, there's some early ruminations. I am still digesting things about the story and I feel like I probably need to go read the book now since things like the relationship between Paul and Eli Sunday threw me a bit and I would like to see how Sinclair handles it.
