Thumbs up Rhino - The Brit Box HELL YEAH!!!

Look, I know this thing has been out since November, but I just got around to picking it up. Damn the set is good. It has almost any band you could think of from about 1985-1999 that fits the catagory (House of Love and Radiohead not included) and is in chronological order. Yeah, some of the songs selected might not be the band's best song, but still. It's freaking great!!! It just took me down memory lane and made me dust off some cd's I havent heard in awhile. I highly recommend it to all Brit pop fans.

(Costco.com has it for $46.99)

I have good percentage of those songs already but I got it as a birthday gift
earlier in the year and it's pretty cool . The packaging is good .
Is it my imagination or are some of the mixes slightly different than the ones
we heard all those years ago?

hmmm... a lot of tunes in there i like, but i have already.

hey boy1der, did you hear the verve have a new record coming out in august? (do you even like the verve?) my favorite song by them is in this rhino collection. anyhow, they've been playing their new single off their forthcoming forth called "love is noise" on indie 103.1. i like... it's been 11 years since anything... so long for a girl to wait...

No...haven't heard the new Verve yet...I'll keep an ear out. Yeah, I have a majority of those tunes too, but I couldn't resist. I'm a sucker for nostalgia haha. The box is great though and it has it's own playlist in my ipod. It's great for those who were only into the bigger bands, like Depeche Mode, The Cure, Oasis, and the like. It opens the field a litle more of them with a ton of great stuff. It's also good for those who were stuck in one particular era...like the 80's people, the shoegazers, Madchester, and those ONLY into 90's Britpop. You knw the type, They only play 1 genre of music all the time. This is an easy way to let them know that there is still other good music being made if you just get off of your lazy @$$ and look.

you know what i forgot to mention. i agree with you on all points, specifically, on how it gets others to hear other bands they may not have before (and further expanding their horizons in this genre). for example, i love lush's "ladykiller" and all but that's their most maintstream song and this collection went with another tune. kind of a hodgepodge between hits and otherwise... but i also meant to say, it's good that it isn't necessarily "all the hits", because that helps with the former point as well.

Of course, but that's not even fair. You making a comp is like Picasso entering into a coloring contest. Where's the competition? Really.

are you f***ing kidding me? drunk dialing is SO much funner!!! (although there's a bit more guilt involved after the fact). thanks for teh karma btw... it takes a s***load of concentration to spell correctly when i'm this inebriated. on the one hand, i'm really good at concentrating on s***. but unfortunately, other things (such as coherence) suffer as a result...
one more post around here and back to my party...
