About This Page: This is a discussion on Media, Movies and Music within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Do you people seriously need to see DMB a minumum of three times???
the Manu Chao show will definitely depend on when exactly Skinny Puppy is scheduled to play in L.A.
Hatter, I saw cEvin at Nurse With Wound... he said that the tour starts in Portland at some festival or some s*** on May 25th, and he THINKS they'll be here around the 2nd or 3rd of June...

Perfect. If you see him again, can you please tell him he owes me (and many others--maybe you too ges) a make-up show from the Variety Arts in '88, when he was so ****ED UP that for over an hour they kept saying the band was "stuck in traffic" (11pm on a sunday?) --but we could see Ogre and the other dude standing in teh wings. Finally they wheeled out ****ing cEvin, taped to a goddamm hand truck ala weekend at bernie's. No ****. He gutteralled a few unintelligible verses propped up out there for a song or two then his eyes rolled back in his head, he slumped over and they wheeled him off. I thought he was dead. The other guys played one short vocal-less set and stormed off looking PISSED. Understood. Everyone was pissed.

you have it the other way around. that was Ogre who was all tore back.
interesting follow up to that... just before Last Rights was released, Ogre did a record release party dealie at a club here in Hollywood. i asked him about that night and he said that in addition to being at the highest point of his addiction, he had been receiving death threats the whole week. he was so loaded, he took off during the show and they finally found him in one of the old movie theaters a couple of blocks from the Variety Arts Center.
my buddy has a bootleg cassette of that night (they actually did a full set, tho' a couple of songs short of the rest of the tour), and right before the other two go off on that really intense (like near 10 minute) instrumental tirade, you hear ogre say somthing like "Oh, my life..." or "Oh, what a night..." and then you never hear him again.
dude i was 15 years old, it was my first Puppy concert and i was on cloud 9... i remember all that happening and just thought it was part of the show!

Of course. Uhh, Ogre = frontman = DOH!! Why did I say cEvin? Thanks ges. And why did I have a feeling that you were there. Awesome addition to the story too! Glad you told that. Funny that you asked him about it. I Wasn't too happy at the time, but man I'd love to hear that tape for memories sake. Do you remember who opened that night? Did anyone even open? Haven't thought of this in years. It was also my only time to see 'em, and I pretty much lost touch from about 90 on. Should probably check 'em out again.

Last I checked my name wasn't you people but pretty much yes. The reason is simple. They do a different set every night and the repeat level is pretty low. You never know what to expect at a DMB show. I've seen em 20 times since 1998 and every show has been a completely different experience.

oh, just some little obscure act that was to release it's first single about a year later...

Acceptable answer. icecream: I saw them at the forum back in 98-99 because my college roommate was obsessed with them and they were very good. How come they aren't getting any media love these days?
