Looks like it will have awesome special effects, lots of action, and some gratuitous sex... but will ultimately suck donkey balls.

It's amusing, to me, to torture a Duck. You can say anything you want cause I've heard it all before. All you can do is pray for a quick death, which you ain't gonna get.
there's only one NCC 1701-A crew for me and it doesn't involve the dude from the princess diaries 2.
Chris Pine won me over in Smokin' Aces. I would say that performance made me forget he was in Princess Diaries 2, but that would be a lie. I didn't know he was in it until you posted that he was.

really??? i tried watching it and i just couldn't sit through it. hmmm maybe it was the character he was playing. i love simon pegg, i watch my Spaced dvds and Hot Fuzz religiously.
i might have to give Run Fatboy Run a second chance.
call me a dork but Star Trek and gratuitous sex just don't seem right to me. yeah there was sex in Star Trek (Klingon mating, pon farr, android sex...) but gratuitous sex?
I only had two immediate things pop into my head after watching that... and one was addressed by a nerd on a different site as follows:

I think there is a bigger issue regarding canon than where the Enterprise was 'built' (in orbit or on the surface, in Iowa or at San Francisco ship yards), and that is the fact that the ship is being 'built' at the time of the movie - at all.
According to canon the Enterprise was first constructed in 2245 and the first commander was Robert April. In the early 2250's Christopher Pike took command, through to the early 2260's.
It was after this that the Enterprise was given a major overhaul in preparation for it's 5-year mission with the Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura, Sulu & Checkov command crew.
Now, if what is depicted in the film is the Enterprise's overhaul, rather than it's construction, then it could answer some questions.
- The ship may indeed have been constructed, in orbit, at the San Francisco yards on 2245
- The scenes depicted in the film could be the re-building overhaul of the ship circa 2264
- The ship would, of course, have been tractored down from orbit!
According to canon, Kirk attended the Academy in the early 2250's (5 years after the supposed construction of the Enterprise), about the time Pike was taking command.
it was not 'til 2264 that Kirk was promoted to Captain and given the Enterprise at the tender age of 31.
So, if we are going to see scenes of Kirk, at the Academy, and going through the 'Kobayashi Maru' test, then my theory is that the film will be centred around he and other cadets taking a training mission with Pike in command; at the end of which Kirk becomes an Ensign.
Perhaps any sequel film will jump forward 10 years to him actually getting full command of the Enterprise?
Either that, or the whole film will be the 'Kobayashi Maru' and they'll all walk out of a simulator at the end.
Also.. I didnt know Kirk got a piece of Uhura. I remembered the one kiss but DAMN! That trailer showed MORE than a KISS, man!

Jeremy Roenick: I liked Patrick's quote, (that) he would have stopped me. I wanted to know where he was in Game 3. He was probably getting his jock out of the rafters of the United Center.
Patrick Roy: I can't really hear what Jeremy says, because I've got my two Stanley Cup rings plugging my ears.
reboot or not, this is the 11st film, which means it'll probably suck.
so far, the good films have been...
2. The Wrath Of Khan
4. The Voyage Home
6. The Undiscovered Country
8. First Contact
so far the even numbered films have been the better of the entire Star Trek series... i haven't seen the tenth film - Nememis, so i have no idea if this oddly ridiculous curse was ever broken.

In real life, Shatner got some too...

Nemesis was forgettable. I didn't hate it, but it was forgettable.
And Wrath of Khan >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> every other Trek movie combined.
you don't even like Star Trek and CLEARLY missed the mark on how f***ing hilarious Spock became after he died and how his interactions with McCoy are priceless... but you would have to have watched the series to understand their relationship.
besides, Nimoy directed it and In Search Of... is like the cock n ballsest show, ever!
