adgy told me it was a "reboot." meh. not really interested in what j.j. abrams wants to do with star trek. he can do whatever he wants, as long as he goes nowhere near TNG.
i love simon pegg but there are some movies i will not watch just because he's in it ::cough run fat boy run cough::.
there's only one NCC 1701-A crew for me and it doesn't involve the dude from the princess diaries 2.
As a "casual fan" I'd be much more interested in seeing it (and any sequels) if it WAS a reboot rather than if they had to make it fit into preexisting continuity.

It's my understanding that this is a reboot, but I couldn't tell you where I read/heard that and how true it was.
As someone else who is only a casual fan of Star Trek, I'm looking forward to the movie and am not hung up on any preconceived notions of who these characters are.
Looks like it will have awesome special effects, lots of action, and some gratuitous sex... but will ultimately suck donkey balls.
Well, it is JJ Abrams so..l'd say that's pretty much spot on. The only way it could be worse than I imagine already is if it were directed by Michael Bey. Man... Pearl Harbor sucked...
