The good news for Bauhaus fans: the group is eyeing a March 4 release for "Going Away White," its first studio album since 1983. The bad news: there will be no further activity from the legendary goth band, who reunited in 2005 for the Coachella festival and later toured the world.
"We were getting along really well, but there was an incident that occurred," drummer Kevin Haskins tells Billboard.com, declining to elaborate further. "Some of us just felt that we didn't want to carry on as a working unit."
As such, "Going Away White," which the band is releasing digitally via iTunes and on CD via its own Bauhaus Music imprint through Redeye Distribution, will close the book on Bauhaus. Haskins, guitarist Daniel Ash, bassist David J and vocalist Peter Murphy recorded the album last year after entering the studio "with nothing prepared," according to Haskins.
"I was concerned because history most of the time has proved that when groups reform and record, it doesn't work out," he says. "We all decided, let's just give it a go and see if it's working.
What emerged were songs Haskins says stay true to the original Bauhaus spirit, including "Adrenaline" and "Endless Summer of the Damned," which were performed during a summer 2006 tour with Nine Inch Nails.
"Now, there's a little bit of an empty feeling because we can't tour with it," Haskins admits. "All the same, it's something we're very proud of, and we feel a lot of people will be interested to hear it."
LOL. Peter and Daniel Ash fighting over the spotlight again?
I wonder if Peter's voice will sound any better in a studio than it does live.
Bauhaus was one of my top 5 back in high school. I have an awesome 6 foot poster of them behind my TV.
Well, now I feel really lucky I got to see them 3 times since (and including) the Coachella performance. The album has me intrigued, even if they are only releasing it for one last pay check..
Should be interesting to hear. I would love for Daniel, David and Kevin to do a Love and Rockets reunion. I always prefered them to the Bauhaus incarnation.
Wonder what the incident was specifically....wonder it had to do with an incident in the mens room?
That said-Ill be interested in hearing the new stuff and bummed Ive never been able to see them live. I actually liked Tones on Tail better then any of the incarnations quite frankly-Lions and Rain are arguably two of my all time favorite songs.

I liked the Bubble Men the best. They were the shiznit, yo!
But seriously, I'm curious to hear what the new Bauhaus CD will sound like. Other than their compilation CDs and singles, "The Sky's Gone Out" was my favorite album from Bauhaus, with "Burning From the Inside" a close second.
Some promoter will throw enough ca$h their way down the road that will make them put their differences aside and encourage them to reunite once again...

Glen Campling was a wicked bass player.
oh by the way, rumor has it that Peter was none too happy about the band's desire to do another Love & Rockets record... but don't quote me.

I was waiting to read that they did it without Peter Murphy. At least it's REALLY Bauhaus instead of what some of these other bands are trying to pull off.

Wouldn't surprise me, sadly. The reason they broke up in the first place was Peter getting butt hurt over them recording some tracks ("Slice Of Life", "Who Killed Mr. Moonlight") while he was sick and unable to join them in studio.
I really liked the song they did for the Heavy Metal 2000 soundtrack, "The Dog's A Vapour". If the album is in that same vein, I expect it'll be pretty alright.
