Granpa Al got up on stage at the Hollywood Bowl Salute to the Beatles last weekend and did a verrrrryyyyy Ministry like "She's So Heavy". The Bowl season seaters had looks on their faces like someone took a dump in their cheerios. Aside from the scattered nuts(myself included) in the crowd you could almost hear crickets on the hillside. Al gave a very sarcastic "thank you" to the crowd and walked off...awesome!!!
built my hotrod!

LMAO! Yes, that pretty much sums it up.
Good times at the HB...and damn them Whole Foods sandwiches were tasty!
OOfa I am shouting musicsnobs from the rooftops. Sorry it isn't jazz or whatever pretentious nonsense you people(yes Gescom,Hatter I am not afraid to call you out) listen to...but if you are going to sh#t on Ministry without whom there would be no NIN,Tool,etc...I take offense...It seems(Hatter are you listening?) that a lot of you guys are so bitter over the Kings being so consistently mediocre that you have to just be miserable f##ks. And I feel your pain...but for f##ks sake, just once...if you don't like something...feel free to keep it to your f'n self. Ministry and RevCo have put out some of the most influential music w/ a wink and a smile. Yeah the new stuff hasn't been as good as Stigmata, or Crackin up...but it's still good. And the merciless attacks on George W. are enough to put me over. Keeripes, the next thing you snobs are gonna say is that, since Motorhead hasn't been as good as before it invalidates Ace Of Spades. The negativity must stop. Long story short, my world just got a little sadder without Ministry in it...if you don't understand then go listen to f'n top 40 music.
see ya at froze fury b##ches!!!!

call me out as much as you want. i AM a music snob and i have seen Ministry for the Twitch, Land of Rape and Honey, and Mind tours... AND saw Revolting Cocks in Chicago when Richard 23 was still in the band before they finally Folgers'd his ass with fellow Belgian, Luc Van Acker permanantly.
i didn't like the Psalm 69 (or whatever they're calling it these days) album and i was in fact done with them after Gibby sang on Jesus Built my Hot Rod... all this after letting the whole Al nearly broke Skinny Puppy up thing slide.
Al should've stopped this nonsense LONG before Paul Barker finally decided HE had had enough.
by the way i have every Hypo Luxa & Hermes Pan release which includes Acid Horse and PTP and Lard and Pailhead and 1000 H**o Djs... and i absolutely thing NIN is a piece of s*** band who (also LIKE Ministry) required Adrian Sherwood to manufacture its breakthrough sound.

ok, well i cannot cast aspersions on your pedigree...and i agree with you on NiN...but honestly, even substandard Ministry has to be better than the majority of sh##ty music out there now. If you don't like "hard" music fine...and I am not saying you don't...but to crow about the death of Ministry and RevCo demeans all that they have done in the past. And regardless of what you think of the current incarnations these bands made great music once and as long as they exist, could again.

my point was that Al wasn't Al anymore and had long since become a caricature of who he once was... almost to the point where you questioned what era it actually was where he was an industry whore. the sad part for him in terms of influence is the fact that the past that he tried so desperately to run away from IS among his most influential. i guarantee you that were you to ask any modern EBM or "industrial" band, they are all almost certainly going to start with Rape and Honey and work their way backwards... all the way to Work For Love, baby!
the writing on the wall should've been evident a few years ago when Paul left. Kirk can't be without Spock... as that was how Al viewed them.

Well Said.
I was a fan during the early years, thought some of their stuff in the late 90's was bland, but I appreciate it more now than I did then. The last two albums have been intense and really good. It's a sad day to see them go. I'm definitely going to have to see them live one more time before they call it quits.

we can agree to disagree. I would still rather have a world with "granpa" Al's special view than not.
