Madonna in the Rock and Roll HOF

Sure the R&R HOF is a load of crap....but Madonna?

VOA News - Madonna, John Mellencamp, Dave Clark Five Inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

My Thoughts-

Thats the final nail in the coffin for the R&R HOF's credibility. Madonna did for Rock and Roll what Mark Twain did for Rock and Roll. That is....nothing. If your local Rock Station has never played a Madonna song-she doesnt deserve the vote. Has KLOS ever played a song by Madonna? Weird Al is more deserving then Madonna. As a matter of fact Madonnas Version of American Pie should have really meant a lifetime exclusion/ban for the R&R HOF.

What is there to discuss? You pretty much covered it. It's a sham, it's always been a sham, and Madonna's inclusion pretty much codifies it.

I will add, however, that Mark Twain--via his punk rock spirit--deserves to be in there more than Madonna.

Its a good call....without Mark Twain we would have never had Tom Sawyer performed by Rush-a band ironically not in the R&R HOF.

i don't have a problem with Madonna's inclusion. if it were actually genre specific, several artists shouldn't have been inducted, which would include Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, who i DO think belong.

I don't have a problem with Madonna either. She has been pretty damn influential over the years and has actually stayed relevant for the better part of 25 years...wich is WAY more than what could be said for many of the artists that are also in.

Along the lines of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five...I see Run DMC, Public Enemy and NWA getting in as well.

i've never really cared who gets inducted into the RnR HOF so it's no different for me right now, but i don't have anything against madonna. she has had a long influential career. i love her stuff from "get into the groove" and "everybody" through to "hung up" and "jump"...
