About This Page: This is a discussion on Media, Movies and Music within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. the other thread seems to be full of people what aint seen it yet... but I wanna get some good RBS in....
So.... without further ado...
I say the next
wow doc...you are a true comic book geek. I tried really hard to find a pic of a character I remembered from the comics (i think) called the Black Knight. He was a very Dr.Doom ish character. But outside of Modok...the Mandarin is strongly recognized as the ultimate IM adversary. Gonna be tough though in these days of political correctness....unless they make him Korean.
But I think that the big villain in the sequel will be Tony Stark's alcoholism(irony anyone) and Rhodey becoming WarMachine. Jon Favreau is on record as saying that he has a trilogy in mind...and he has already hinted that, as a fellow geek, he wants to explore Stark's alcoholism/flaws.
Glad you enjoyed it...can't wait to see it at the Cinerama Dome tomorrow.

yeah but the Mandarin also had the long manicured fingernails...also a stereotype. I am pretty sure that Favreau wants to keep it as modern/real as possible...gonna be tough. If I remember correctly the Mandarin was already done better in the QUEEN-heavy Flash Gordon flick...yes Ming the Merciless. I just think they are going to go out of their way to make Iron Man as realistic as possible. And Modok makes a better go-to villiain. But the IRON WARS...IRONMAN vs WARMACHINE...wow what a great story to mine. And as much as I trumpet RDJ as Stark...Terrence Howard as Rhodey...you could not cast any better. And TH seems very protective of WarMachine...he wants to franchise it...

My guess is Ten Rings as well. They will do PC enough it as not to offend anyone. Loved the Nick Fury and Avengers callout at the end. Samuel L. has been working this for awhile ...

From all reports, Mandarin is expected to be the villain in the next movie - Favreau wanted to have the first one feel "real" but feels like a sequel can be made to go in a new direction.
On top of that, Robert Downey Jr will be in The Hulk as Tony Stark.

Tony Stark walks into his home and calls out for Jarvis who doesn't respond. There is a man staring out the window with his back to Stark. He begins talking to Stark about how he isn't the only Super-Hero in the world and how he has just entered a much bigger world he just doesn't know it yet.
Stark asks who he is.
We see that it is Samuel L. Jackson with an eye patch and he reveals that he is Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. and that he is there to talk to Stark about the Avengers Initiative.
