While they are more relevant, I do believe Thor's film is planned to be in a fantasy setting.

Went and saw it this past weekend at the Arclight. Even though I'm not a comic "fangirl" or anything, I really enjoyed it. RDJr. was awesome! Very entertaining.
Anyways, they had the Iron Man suit that Downey wore during the filming of the movie on display in the lobby of the theater, so I took a pic (cell phone quality) for you guys to see. They also had the Audi he drove on display in the plaza, but I didn't take a pic of that.

And I gotta agree with the Doctor. There's no way the next villain is going to be anything but The Mandarin.
I just wonder how they'll **** him up when re-creating him for the movie. I seriously doubt they'll go with the whole "Middle Kingdom Dominance/Yellow Peril" angle that the early writers of the Iron Man comic books took. Gotta be PC these days and not make him rook rike-ah steleotype. I imagine they'll go with the fellow titan-of-industry angle that was used in the 90s comic books.
Only one person could play him, though: Chow Yun Fat.

Marvel should thank their lucky stars for Favreau. Especially considering the fact that they seemed to be looking elsewhere for the sequels until pressure from fans/fansites got them to step up.
the other thread seems to be full of people what aint seen it yet... but I wanna get some good RBS in....
So.... without further ado...
I say the next villain in either the Iron Man sequel OR the Avengers movie will be.....
THE MANDARIN!!!!
The Mandarin has ten rings... each with it's own power....
Stane paid a group called the Ten Rings to kill Stark? And the leader wanted to rule all of Asia?????
coincidence?
Psh...
- The Mandarin is the overarching, behind the scenes villain of Favreau's planned trilogy, but he's very aware of how hard it is to keep a character like that cool. He compared it to The Emperor from Star Wars - when you first see him, you're blown away that Darth Vader is bowing down to someone but by Jedi you just want The Emperor to shut up. And by Clone Wars he's a sidekick.

hey doc...some of the highlights of those snippets from Favreau were a)WarMachine is IN the next flick...hell, Terence Howard is cooler than cool and the greatest 'get' of the whole cast...and b)that the DEMON IN A BOTTLE story is in...look, from what I have read, that's part of the reason JF got on board in the first place. And, if you ask me, it's part of the reason Marvel wanted to replace him. As much as i would love to see a Ming the Merciless-type Mandarin, the way they are going by updating it w/the whole middle east type thang ain't exactly shabby. I can deal. The villain I would love to see...
