About This Page: This is a discussion on Media, Movies and Music within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. I'm sure this is news to nobody.
I know for a fact that Dr. Seuss people were really unhappy with how the two Universal flicks turned out (that deal gave them virtually no creative input into the production), so when they were negotiating with Fox, they made sure to retain enough creative control over the production to ensure they do better justice to the book. I'm glad to see that it seems to have worked.

doc, you should link up that article (if it was an internets one) that you were telling me about. you know, the one where that douche who made the film said he wanted to make horton with a focus on the book's illustrations>>>writing.

I know it's all about the $$$, but I really can't believe Seuss' foundation/estate continues to allow this **** to be made.
Have you seen it? Re-read my post in this thread.

Previews looked pretty freaking bad Goallum, and I'm a real Seuss traditionalist, so just stick me in the "judge it without seeing it" group.
The reviews on RT are pretty mixed. The negatives hate it because the story's changed. The positives enjoyed it, but also say that story seems jumbled and thrown together.

Well, if it were true to the book it would be 10 minutes long. It's currently 81% with 87% with the top critics. It's not too bad, especially considering that Cat in the Hat was in the teens.

The Grinch rocked. I can't see why anyone would have a problem with that. I think Horton will be sweet too. Haven't seen Cat in the Hat but I haven't heard good things. Seriously, if you didn't like the Grinch, your inner child is dead and you're only into the original for the nostalgia factor, not because you really 'get it'.

I hear you man, I'm just a purist when it comes to the Doc. Spent all week reading the books to my classes, as well, and anything of this sort almost seems sacreligious. Praying for no horrible versions of the Lorax or the Butter Battle Book.
