I went yesterday (Fri) and it was a blast! I really have to go for more than just a day, there is just too much to see and too many folks to talk to get done in one day. Man there is a lot of stuff, almost overwhelming!
A few brief highlights:
The day started out great! We were walking to the Convention Center and why there all by herself standing on a corner was Olivia Munn. She could not have been nicer and I got a pic with her. She is even hotter in real life.
The Suicide Girls booth. Smoking hot chicks with lots of ink! They also could not have been nicer and more down to earth girls. And there was a bunch of them! Look, I like comics, movies, video games ect ect as much as the next guy, but I have never been a "fanboy". But I was pretty amped to hang out with the crew from SG for a little bit. So hot!
The Patrick Oliphant panel. Oliphant is a politcal cartoonist who has been busting balls for over 30 years. It was cool to hear him give some insight on what drives and inspires him to do the tthings he does.
Billy Tucci ( probably best known for Shi, but has done tons of stuff for many books and comapanies) is flat out a cool guy. He sort of looks like Gary Oldman and when he is not writing or drawing comics he is jumping out of planes, riding around in tanks, flying in old WWII planes, touring battlefields, ect ect. He Did a Sgt. Rock miniseries so he wanted to get the feel for it.
Billy happens to be an Arsenal Gunner supporter, as am I, so he always remembers me and my brother. So no matter how many people he has in line or how busy he is, he stops what he is doing to say hello. And its not like my brother and I are jerks who push to the front or yell at him. Billy catches sight of us and just pauses to say "Hey guys how is it going!" Then he will say to wait a little bit so we can chat and catch up. If he really busy he we say "Hey walk around a bit and then come back and hang out at the booth when it calms down."
So yesterday I got to hang a bit with him and asked "Hey Billy, I got beer in a cooler back in my car, you want some?" he replied, "Hell yeah I would! Sneak them in and lets drink a couple!" So I snuck them in with ease and drank with Billy freakin' Tucci at his booth! And we did not sneak it, we drank it it proud!
Now Tucci's booth is smack dab front and center of one of the major entrances. And it stands alone. So it is highly visable and has tons of people constantly walking by. So as we drank our brews we got all sorts of envious looks from folks, "How did you guys get beer?!?!" A number of professionals from other booths walked over "What the hell Billly, where is our beer?!?!" So that was flat out cool.
And who knew that the Mighty Boosh was so popular, I tries to see that panel, got there late and it was packed. So I missed it.
But what an event!

Still trying to process all of my thoughts and sort out all the crap i brought home...but...Highlights: The WB panel...tearing up at the Where the Wild Things are footage, BEING IN THE SAME ROOM AS GARY ****ING OLDMAN, Cameron Diaz ****ting the bed and basically giving away the 'reveal' for THE BOX, the coolness of the Nightmare re-whatever, The JONAH HEX footage that looks way better than it should(and Josh Brolin havin a blast as if he indulged in a few pops before the panel), and finally the coolness that is Robert Downey Jr. Also, the FAMILY GUY panel, where they showed 5 minutes of lol footage from the EMPIRE STRIKES BACK episode...best swag, the WATCHMEN/TRICK'R'TREAT bag from the WB BOOTH...lotsa dissapointments...me'n'Kq were lucky last year...we got into most of what we wanted to...this year, not so much. Turned away at a lotta stuff. Hey, it happens. I wouldn't trade it for anything. What I saw I loved and what I missed I will be able to see to varying degrees online. Missing the Iron Man,Zombieland,Robot Chicken panels were a drag, as well as the WATCHMEN screening and the Trick'r'Treat screening. But I would not trade the experience for anything...THANKS TO Kingsqueen for being a trooper and having my back... The good news is I have bought so much swag on ebay for the past six months that i hardly spent any $$$ on the floor. Oh yeah a MASSIVE F'YOU to the people at the Mattel booth...next time you may wanna get all of your folks on the same page as far as bull**** stories go. Oh and Adgy, couldn't find any Thirst swag, but I did get you a Tetsuo postcard sized poster...wow that panel was death...nobody...including the translator, spoke Engrish...hey kq, we should rewatch the footage and make a drinking game concerning the word actuary
Oh yeah...the FUTURAMA panel was the black death of ComiCon...basically all writers/producers/Matt Groening...saying that they loved their voice actors and hoped that all would be resolved quickly, they filled time by showing notecards w/worknotes and giving away swag. It was the biggest missed opportunity of the weekend. The amount of Futurama costumes was amazing(including an awesome bender who I will post soon)...I read an article w/John Dimaggio(Bender Bending Rodriguez) who was apparently in attendance, who says he expects all to be resolved shortly...let's hope so.
Like those Futurama voice guys have anything better to do...
Actually Brother, Demaggio,Billy West,Maurice LeMarche(sp)...etc. are some of the busier voiceover actors in the biz...and Katey Segal is pretty high profile too.

I know they're busy. I used to work with Maurice and the other Animaniacs' talent, remember?
