Honestly I think this one of my, if not my #1, favorite albums ever.

This. Revolver is hard, if not impossible, to top.
And since you did not really specify great or greatest 'hard rock' album as the category, which Back in Black is neither, or even an era to pull from (60s, 70s, 80s, etc) I will go ahead and throw out a few albums that are just in general better than anything AC/DC has ever done (keeping in mind that I really like AC/DC, Bon Scott era-- and especially when I'm drunk!).

i can certainly get behind london calling.
"hateful", "rudie can't fail" and "the guns of brixton" are three of my most favorite songs.
Guns of Brixton is not recognized for the classic it is. I've actually seen an STP show in Brixton. Would've been way cooler to see the Clash there, but they weren't around by then.
And for the records, I prefer Dirty Deeds to Back in Black, although Back in Black is awesome in its own right. Dirty Deeds is more raw, and better for it.

great album, but I was never that much of an AC/DC fan except for the hits...
now Guns N Roses Appetite for Destruction is great@!!
Im not even into metal and even I enjoy Appetite. One of the best albums of all time.
As for London Calling-if you havent yet done so pick up the Remastered Version. There arent any bonus tracks but the sound quality is much superior to the original CD version. My wife likes this album as well. What makes London Calling great is there are so many different styles of music on it that are all done well. Hard to believe back in the day this was considered punk. Hell these days the Clashs 1st record isnt even considered punk.
As for Revolver-do a search for Purple Chick Revolver and you can maybe find a fan based self remaster of Revolver that is hands down the best sounding version of Revolver and Revolver era singles you can get. Considering Paperback Writer and Rain were both Revolver era recordings their inclusion on the disc is fantastic.

There are about 40 million better rock albums than Back in Black.
Yes, Revolver
Yes, London Calling (my personal pick)
Pet Sounds
Born To Run
Rubber Soul
Who's Next
The Ramones
Exile On Main Street
The Stranger
and manny, many more...

With the sleeves that have the lyrics and the pics? Ahhh memories. Remember before CDs you would buy an album and study almost every inch of the cover front and back?
