I know some will try to make this into a muslim thing or even a women thing. But let's forget that
I know some will try to make this into a muslim thing or even a women thing. But let's forget that for now.
The real issue is .......since when is it right for 6 people to trump the rights of all others? Six people have effectively shut out thousands of others because they feel uncomfortable.
This girl should be slapped......................
Quote:
"The majority should be willing to compromise," she said. "I think that's just basic courtesy. We must show tolerance and respect for all others."
I am all for tolerance and respect for others but this is crazy. How about the six try to make their own arrangements without affecting thousands of others?

i know they probably want to work out at the school's gym because they'd like to take advantage of the amenity, but seriously... they have places like curves gyms for this s***. i suppose they feel entitled to request some private time at the school's gym, but personally, if i think it's going to cause a brouhaha, i'd just as soon plunk some money down where i know i'd feel comfortable instead.
*note: this is in no way a personal advertisement for curves, i've never been there but i know they cater to women. i work out at home because i like watching/listening to whatever i want while i'm gettin' physical.

((50% men x 6 workout hours banned) / (18 workout hours available per day(6a-mid) x 7 days a week)) = 2% of all workout hours men are banned!!!
THE TYRANNY!!!!!!!!!
If there are 3 gyms on campus the number then equals .67%(but it equals 0% at the other two gyms.)
This non-issue is brought to you by misogynist anti-muslim fanatics.
These are college students with class schedules who usually use their break in classes while on-campus to use the facilities. It's not the world coming to an end or tyranny or anything close, but it's still dumb.

You just don't get it.
The point is not that only 2% of all men's workouts banned. It could be .OO2% and it is still wrong. The number is irrelevant.
The point is we are becoming a society of narcissists who have a "It's all about me, **** everyone else!" attitude and therefore individuals expect the majority to bend to their will no matter how many other people they inconvenience. What's worse is that many in the majority refuse to call these selfish louts out for their BS.
You bringing up "misogynist anti-muslim fanatics" simply shows that you are a muck racking moron. I suspect the cowards at Harvard who caved to this silly demand did so because of a fear of being smeared by hysterical PC persons like yourself.
And it should be obvious that I was being a little over the top in my use of the word "tyranny", I used it to stir things up a bit to grab some attention, but that probably went right over your head, you being you and all.

****ing bitches should buy treadmills like all the other women who are too insecure to workout in a regular gym.
hey now! i dont work out in a regular gym because:
1) i don't want to listen to gloria estefan and watch cnn (thanks goallum!) *if you must know, i prefer to watch hockey or listen to a daily punk rock show and read novels or rolling stone... the gym offers none of the first two options!!!
2) it's gross working out around sick people, people who sweat profusely all over the equipment and/or people who breathe like a f***ing horse.
3) i don't like the meat market that the gym can be (it has more to do with lack of interest in the attention i get at these places than it does any insecurity... you know what i look like so i would think you'd know what i mean by that).
you're probably just generalizing or trying to get a reaction, but i just posted above about how i don't workout in a regular gym... i feel like a casualty, thanks a bunch. hmmmph. :P

At .002% we're talking about the men being banned from a gym for 20 minutes a week. The 2% numbers I offered up were in the great generality too. I imagine the amount of men who are both awake, not in class, and willing to work out at the times they are banned from the gym is MUCH smaller than the 50% total population.

I wonder if you were taught that sacrifice is a virtue. A simple re-wording of your narcissistic quote gives me this:
Quote:
"It's all about us, **** the individual!" attitude and therefore individuals expect the minority to be bullied into our will no matter how many of them we inconvenience.
That does not seem like an enlightened position to take, but it is the converse of what you are railing against, so you must defend it in some form.

Do a google search on "women hours gym" and you should be able to see in the results that this is an issue because this ban is enforced for the benefit of muslim women. Now, while you might not personally claim to hate these women, you definitely resent them. You resent them because they refuse to accept your vision of America. You resent them because they, along with Harvard, have the courage to say: "majority, KP in particular, F*** YOU! We think it's important that an under-represented part of our society isn't alienated because it might inconvenience somebody or a lot of somebodies!"
If this wasn't a case against muslim women, we'd have threads railing against girl-only math classes("but those work?")
I'm not sure how you internalize this issue, but your panties aren't in a bunch because they've inconvenienced any male harvard gym rat.

One, I did the math to prove it's a non-issue. Two, I call it a non-issue. Three, I assert it's only an issue because of a certain illicit agenda. And "it" went over my head? I'm sure.
