on a related note , does anyone else think that this really spells the end of the Obama campaign and if so what will that do, if anything, to the tension between black america and white america?
Just look at these headlines even so many days after the speech:
Will Racial Politics Foil Obama? - Jake Tapper, ABC News
Obama's Teaching Moment a Disaster - Wesley Pruden, Washington Times
Don't Tar Obama With Wright's Words - Stafford Burns, Houston Chronicle
Not Fair to Judge Obama By Wright - E.J. Dionne, Indianapolis Star
The Speech: A Brilliant Fraud - Charles Krauthammer, Washington Post
His Explanation Won't Fly
among dozens of others
McCain opens up a 9 point lead in some polls after this and grabs a couple more points from Clinton as well.
7 months from the election and you're jocking a "poll"? Good God. 7 months ago we were preparing for Hillary v. 9iu11ani.
Polls mean NOTHING right now. NOTHING.
Flip-Flop Grandpa McCain just gave a horrible ignorant speech about the economy, and housing crisis in particular this morning. THat isn't going to help his "polling" in coming weeks.

Does Captain Foreign Policy Experience know the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite yet, or are they all typical brown people still?

you act as if political poll discussion has no place in a politics forum :rollseyes
polls can change especially with this amount of time before the election. However, I do think the American people have some serious questions about Obama's judgement and honesty and it is showing in the polls, but that can change because Obama is good at side stepping things and giving good speeches.

I think you meant to say that some white Americans have serious questions about Obama's skin color and they've been looking for some way to camoflage that with a fake issue about him like his 'judgement and honesty' so that they can cover their injection of race into the campaign against him.
I personally am shocked, SHOCKED! to find that appeals to the racial fears and resentments of whites HAVE TAKEN THIS LONG to show up.
Actually, most recent polling shows that Obama's positive vs. negative numbers have barely moved with his positives around 50 and negatives in the low 30's. McCain's negatives have recently risen a bit and his still high poitives have fallen only a bit. Clinton's positives have dropped considerably and her already high negatives have risen even higher.
The "which candidate can unify the country" question now has Obama at 60%, McCain at 58% and Clinton at 45% with more people saying she can't than she can.
Clinton's favorability rating among Republicans is below the Mendoza line at 19%. Obama's is around 37%.

I don't think all Republicans are Fuzzy Zeller's, people who have race on the mind. I believe this fake outrage is a result to his pristine condition. They've got nothing to pin Obama too but their greatest fears of what his minister might have said. Of course, as we should all know by now, quotes without context are pretext. There are still Republicans to this day that defend our Iraqi involvement because they did 9/11, they had WMDs, and Saddamn Insane was dangerous. There are always going to be Republicans who don't think.
They've moved their piece to the end of the board. They're proud because they've got something. They're thinking: "King me!"
Guess what?
This **** is chess not checkers.
