Makes me happy. Couldn't happen to a better target. I wish they'd thrown dead and decomposing third world infants at him instead.
This self-absorbed scumbag makes a living out of selling books that lead wealthy liberals to imagine they know something and 'care' about globalization and climate change. His crap just sanctions more of the same and permits people to indulge in the fantasy that they can continue on without sacrificing anything and without rocking the luxury yacht. He's the guru that brings together under one ideological roof the liberals and the conservatives who are corporate capitalism's faithful.
He's among the top ten smarmiest most opportunistic and excuse-making sycophantic suck-ups to ever pose a non-question to power in the history of AmericanTV and publishing.

I dont get it, they missed him, then ran like hell out the door whilst throwing leaflets in the air on their way out, its hardly protestation at its finest.

I don't know anything about this guy, from the article it reads like he thinks innovation will be the ticket to "roll back" climate change.
Why is this wrong? I can count 20+ startups right now that are pursuing solar energy (semiconductor and thin film) now because VC firms have funded them, creating thousands of jobs. this isn't counting the biofuels division of clean tech energy as well.
And solar energy research is currently much, much bigger in Europe than it is in the US.
I will dare say that innovation will be the ONLY way that we will lessen our need for combustion energy sources, because the rest of the world, as they become more and more modernized, will be using more and more energy.
Imagine the energy burden if the rest of africa got to the point where India and China are right now in their growth curve. And seeing them ALL catch up to the US. yikes.
Thank goodness he took his light brown suede Eddie Bauer barn coat off as soon as he reached the podium... and it's a lucky thing he was wearing all black because the cream "pie" really shows up on dv... you know, it's a good thing, that's all I'm saying... cuz carrying around pies, especially sloppy creamy pies, is easy... um, yep... Um, is Brown having a hard with enrollment?

As opposed to self-absorbed scumbags who throw pies in the faces of people that they disagree with and leading others to imagine that by throwing pies, handing out leaflets or getting hysterical on internet boards they know something and 'care' about globalization and climate change.
Their BS is meaningless. And for the record I am no fan of Friedman but these people are idiots. So they throw a pie or two and pass out leaflets and yell once in a while. BFD. Something tells me they still party with their pals at night and spend more time getting wasted and trying to get laid (unsuccessfully I would bet) then actually doing anything useful to promote change.
These are folks who throw a pie knowing that they cannot get any real trouble and do things that annoy and piss people off, but not so much that it would jeopardise their ability to remain in school or get a fat cat job later.
They are easing their conscience now so they can "sell out" later.

Seriously. You're actually complaining that they are agitating only enough that they don't get kicked out of school or thrown in jail. And yet, I'm betting that you don't agree with the tactics of the Weathermen or ELF. Talk about hypocrisy. In your world, when is it a good time to show dissent?
