Speaking to reporters on board her campaign plane, Mrs. Clinton expressed surprise at the news that Mr. Nader planned to run.
“I don’t know what to say,” she said, when a reporter asked for comment. “Wow, that’s really unfortunate. I remember when he did this before. It’s not good for anybody, especially our country.”
How so Clinton? The quasi-two party system has really messed up on a lot of issues. Ralph Nadar or anyone for the matter who has the will and the backing should run for the President. Blaming your losses due to votes casted towards a third party candidate is ridiculous. The voters who voted for the third party didn't like either the democrat or Republican candidates. People should have the right to vote for someone else if they chose to do so.
Must be exasperating after spending all that time and money the last couple months killing yourself in the Primary just to watch Nader cruise in during the last leg to further cloud the waters.
Nader would have been a footnote last time if it weren't for Florida. He'll be a bug splat on the windshield this time around. Obama is the "change" guy, and I can't imagine Obama supporters flocking to Nader.
I watched him on Meet the Press this morning and he is clearly plum loco... not to mention OLD.

Isn't he just more or less Buchanan for the left at this point though? I don't think the election will be close enough (if Obama is the nominee) to really make a difference. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Nader campaigning during the primaries last time? This seems more like a publicity ploy to me.
Nader HAS to be a Dodger fan... arrive late, leave early.

That's all it ever is. In 2000 he got votes from people who didn't like Bush OR Gore and probably wouldn't have voted at all if Nader weren't running. Yes, exit polls showed that people who voted for Nader would have voted for Gore 2:1 if Nader weren't running, but they didn't bother asking those people if they would have voted at all if Nader weren't on the ticket.
The more telling stat in the 2000 Florida election was the over 200,000 (I forget the exact #, but it was in that range) of Democrats who switched sides and voted Republican because they didn't like Gore. That's why Florida went to the Republicans - Nader, in that perspective, had nothing to do with it.
I don't see that happening this time around - in fact, it's FAR more likely the opposite will occur - Republicans will cross over and vote Democratic.

I think he bites into a Clinton but does nothing to an Obama.
I agree with this. Obama is nearly as far to the left as Nader on most issues and already has near overwhelming support from the fringe wackos. The main difference between them is that Obama actually has a chance of winning. Clinton is more moderate and represents the traditional establishment candidate. Obama, just by being black, eschews the establishment candidate image. No, this time Nader is just going to embarrass himself and become even more irrelevant.
Nadar isn't even a spoiler. I believe dip**** Nadar voters are people who otherwise wouldn't vote. I don't buy that whole..... "They would have voted for Gore in 2000 if Nadar wasn't on the ballot" anyway.
Let him run. The dudes still gonna get no attention, and not be invited to the debates. But he'll make Salty Dog feel better.... so hey, have at it.
