Ok, let me rephrase that. It's the collective fault of the American people. Better?
Not at all. Is the ****-stain in the toilet of Calgary's worst pub your fault? Because you have as much to do with that as I do with the corrupt disaster that has been Bush's presidency.
Millions of us--tens of millions of us--have been calling BS on this fraud from Day 1. There's plenty of people to be blamed--check this forum and you'll find plenty of bootlickers, but don't tar the good name of the entire American people with this guy.

I understand how you can feel that way. I'm also sure that you are an intelligent, decent human being, but there's a reason that the American people don't exactly have a good name by other country's standards. The sad thing is, there's more bootlickers than rational folk, hence George Bush, and hence the bad name.
A country's President does not equate to a poo stain in a pub. Try again.

Speaking as someone who's traveled internationally several times during Bush's terms, including to such vaunted bastions of anti-Americanism as France and Latin America, I can tell you that I experienced no effects of a bad reputation. People were friendly, willing to talk, asked about America, etc. They didn't automatically assume I was some imperialist jackoff.
Of course, they often voiced their displeasure for W., but they certainly did not equate "the American people" with the President of the United States. Hell, my wife and I got ****-faced with a Canadian couple we had just met in the Yaletown Brewery in Vancouver and practically bonded over our disgust towards W.
Look, if you want to blame the right wing, the media, the homophobes, the "moral" majority, all those fascist wannabe cowboys who love seeing brown-skinned people get bombed, fine, I'm with you...but they don't speak for all us.

It's not you specifically that I'm talking about here, so I understand why you wouldn't have problems abroad. But think about the other types of people that you mentioned, and the fact that they have power to get a George W. type elected; that's a bad collective reflection on Americans, and it sounds like you have just as much of a problem with it as I do.
I have a hard time taking my friends' opinions seriously, never mind some yokel from Moose Anus, Saskatchewan......Frogballs, Denmark....or East Bum****, Malaysia.

Everyone else should operate the same way.
You mean you don't care what I think? But I've always had a soft spot for you Chartrand, on the fourth line of my heart...

No hard feelings, eh?
But my point stands. We're not perfect, but looking around the globe...there are a lot of places a whole lot less perfect-er. For every Austria and Switzerland, there's five North Koreas. All we need is for Naysay to ride in and tell us what he thinks of Europe.
