how come they have to shoot an unarmed 120lb man? I'm pretty sure I can take on two or three of them with one hand tied behind my back. no wonder they outfit cops with guns, since they are all apparently out of shape wimps who need guns to control 120lb unarmed men.
oh well, im sure slob26 and dumb91 will come tell me how he deserved it because the officer was "protecting his life partner's well being" or some company line bull****. then el joto will chime in with you weren't there...
i don't need to be there anymore. cops are weak, mentally AND physically. they should lose 5 grand in pay per year for every-time they fire their gun. they should lose their jobs if they fire upon unarmed citizens. this is the only way to keep the streets safe.
it's as if we're better off NOT calling the cops to make certain someone doesn't die.

Reason: fixing pseudonyms
Officers say the man was acting erratically and got in a physical altercation with an officer. Witnesses say Roketi Su'e, 46, was shot as he lay shirtless and unarmed on the sidewalk.
Since neither of us were there at the shooting, we both don't know for sure what happened. You say he was unarmed after reading the article, fine. I'm going to say he was armed after reading the article:
Quote:
Long Beach police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said police were summoned to the neighborhood about 7 p.m. Saturday by callers who said a man was behaving erratically. The confrontation occurred in the 3400 block of 67th Street, a cul-de-sac of modest homes and apartments just southwest of the Downey Avenue exit of the Riverside Freeway
Pratt said Su'e charged the officers, who tried to protect themselves by hitting him with their batons and shooting him with a Taser gun, which proved ineffective.
Su'e grabbed one of the officer's batons, she said, and as the two struggled, Su'e punched the officer in the face and both fell to the ground. The other officer, "fearing for his partner's safety as well as his own," fired at Su'e, Pratt said.
Why don't we wait for the investigation to be conducted before we make any judgments. Even the man's nephew agrees:
Quote:
...his nephew, La-auli To-omalatai, 37, of Arcadia ... did not witness the shooting, but he said it sounded like an officer made a mistake.
"We're not angry with the department," he said. Although the family is considering legal action because of Su'e's death, he said, "If there's some sort of training police can receive, that is all we want to be done."
"Obviously we're all pretty upset. I really can't explain our feelings, but the best we can do is wait for the autopsy and the police report," said Laa-ull Toomalatal, the Su'e's nephew.
Sue's family believes that a fight with his girlfriend caused his erratic behavior. They also say he suffered from bipolar disorder. Now they're hoping the evidence shows that the Long Beach police officers acted appropriately.
"We don't know the whole story. So until we get all the facts, we can definitely comment then," Toomalatal said.
If the own man's nephew can show some restraint during a terrible situation why can't you?
Actually I'm just glad you attacked me personally and not just BAD91.......it looks like I made the big leagues now because I'm on your "A" list......
Hey dude...apply and become one and then criticize them.
According to Seraphim being a cop is no different from any other job. You should look up some of his other posts including my favourite where he explains that a suspect dying in a car chase accident is the cops fault, apparently cops do not do enough to protect fleeing suspects who bulldoze their way through traffic.

This particular case not withstanding it's been a bad week for the cops in my area. They blew away an innocent 19 year old kid in my 'hood. Some other dude fired on the cops and vanished, so while this kid is driving... slowly... away from the gunfire the cops unload. No guns, no crimes, just a kid not wanting to be around while bullets are flying. Sometimes I guess being the wrong color can get you killed.
bah, i don't need to link to THE story; it could have been ANY OF THE STORIES.
They all play out the exact same way:
Cops show up. Cops escalate the situation through incompetence. Cops wrongly fear for their lives: let it be a black guy with a cellphone, a retarded man who wrassled the nightstick away from officer pansy, or some poor kid who was just trying to get away from the mayhem. BLAM BLAM BLAM. Cops shoot and kill the person and justify their cowardice with "he punched me in the face," "he went after my gun," "i was afraid for my life," "he ruined the hem of my dress." Then the cop apologists who don't mind that people are being MURDERED regularly by police incompetence chime in by spouting: "you weren't there," "you try eating a dozen donuts and not lose a fight with a tazer gun and baton," "i love a man in uniform." Then it goes to trial, and the same idiots who want a broom handle or night stick up their ass let these murderers off because police procedures and policies are setup to BRUTALIZE the victims, and not to protect the citizenry.

I have NEVER said being a police officer is the same as any other job. You are the one who advocated re-reading my posts, and when you do, you'll find I claim that police officers don't have the leeway, like a Garbage man, or secretary, to have an off day at work. They don't get the privilege of being wrong, regardless of how many episodes of CHiPs they saw as a kid.
Too many of you people seem to forget: it is a LIFE and DEATH situation, for all parties involved!!! The badge they wear isn't a license to kill; it's barely a license to drive above the speed limit.
They should poll the cops to see if they think they can subdue a 120lb 40+ year old retarded man with a tazer gun, two on one advantage, and nightsticks or if they *might* have to shoot the perp. Anyone who chooses the latter should be summarily fired, but given a box of Kotex for compensation. I'm not heartless.

It doesn't matter though. As long as these victims of police brutality continue to reside in *that* community and not *our* own, we aren't forced to empathize. It's *OUR* apathy that makes it easy for us to define the worst case scenario, somebody dying, as a success.
