Doubtful, from a tactical perspective.

I nominate....ME. Because I could use the money and I figure it's the kind of job that once you get it you can just sit on your ass, post really cool stuff on LGK, basically coast for 4 years and collect the check. It's got nice perks and it would be pretty easy to get laid. They would never fire me because that would mean that they made a mistake and no politician would ever admit to that.
And based on your name, you'd probably enjoy shooting your friends in the face.

If Obama wants to win, he'll pick Clinton. But I don't see him picking her.
Because that wouldn't motivate the right to turn out even MORE? Don't give people a reason to vote against you is like Rule #1 in politics. Clinton is a huge turn off to a lot of middle leaning voters. It might not make them vote for McCain, but it certainly would discourage them from voting for him. Probably not a smart choice.
Two recent reasons given for the Biden choice are interesting.
Biden has a reputation for going off message and saying what's on his mind. The press loves him for it because he's always willing to talk to them. Thus, Biden can "go off message" and really rip McCain's face off and the press will say "That's just Joe being Joe, isn't this fun?!" and Obama will say, "I told you I wanted someone who would speak his own mind. Joe was just off message, and I apologize."
Second, and more interesting. Biden is the head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. It will be very hard for the Republicans to engineer an "October surprise" foreign policy "crisis" to swing the election without him hearing about it as it's planned and busting them on it.

Not a bad choice if true. I've always thought he was a decent guy. Not only that, he's not going to stoke the ire of Conservatives like a Clinton/Daschle/Biden would.
