5 years to the day, President Bush landed on an aircraft carrier and claimed that major operations in Iraq were finished, and the U.S. has succeeded.
Got me thinking...Which Presidential 'F-UP' is worse? President Clinton's 'Monica 'BJ' scandal or Bush's 'my balls are bigger than yours' speech on the aircraft carrier?
By the way, anyone watching that PBS documentary entitled 'Carrier'? Great program, I suggest watching it...it's on again tonight.
That is a friggen great program. I like how there a very few commercials.

After shifting explanations, the White House eventually said the “Mission Accomplished” phrase referred to the carrier’s crew completing its 10-month mission, not the military completing its mission in Iraq. Bush, in October 2003, disavowed any connection with the “Mission Accomplished” message. He said the White House had nothing to do with the banner; a spokesman later said the ship’s crew asked for the sign and the White House staff had it made by a private vendor.
what a bunch of cock sucking mother ****ing ******* mother ****ing bull****! **** those mother ****ers for trying to blame that **** on the ship....**** that **** that **** that!

That got you thinking? Seems like no contest there.

What really got me thinking was how Clinton was impeached for getting a 'BJ', and Bush, his 30% approval rating, and his unjust war in Iraq continue with no end in sight.
Clinton lied, yes. But Bush lying during his 8 years in office...no contest.
Since Mission Accomplished and "major combat operations" completed:
3900 plus dead and 29,000 plus wounded (and a lot of those wounds especially bad in the aftermath since the death toll is only that low because so many guys who would have died in earlier wars are now being kept alive in this one).
Military estimates of some effects of PTSD for about 1/4 of combat vets.
47 more combat deaths in April.
Bush spokesperson claiming Bush has had a greater burden to bear than anyone else.
Cheney basically saying a couple of weeks ago 'Tough luck, they volunteered.' Forgetting to point out that most did so after the lies he and Bush and Condi and Powell and the rest told to start the war.
About $750 billion committed to the deathtrap so far.
Afghanistan getting worse, not better.
The "success" of the "surge"/escalation depending on whether we keep bribing and arming and protecting the Sunni militias and on whether Moqtada al-Sadr's Shi'ite Mehdi Army continues with its voluntary cease fire (which is the real reason for the so-called "effectiveness" of the "surge.")
Bush approval shrinks even further with now a 71% disapproval rating.
Yet because too many American people can't add 2+2 politically McCain, who excuses what has been done and promises more of the same basically forever, is running even with Obama.
Maybe that was and is the "mission." Play on wartime 'patriotism' to guarantee as many Republican administrations as possible.
