Los Angeles is becoming a "Third World city" with immigrants
Maybe I'm missing something but what does speaking a particular language have to do with defining a country/city as third world?
Third world is an academic buzzword to indicate anything underdeveloped by 20th century standards....I don't know if you have driven through LA recently, but I think its an apt conclusion....

What a stupid article. No content. A few rich and a mass of poor? That's not third world, that's just plain old capitalism. Its third world if its a few rich living in fortresses and taking helicopters to work so they won't be kidnapped and held for ransom and a mass of desperately poor permanently unemployed people with no clean water source. Think Sao Paolo.
Not enough software people and too few nurses? Are you kidding? The software guys come from the Indian subcontinent and the nurses we don't train are being brought in from the Philippines. The third world is solving the talent shortage not making it hard to do so. How about more of the self-indulgent middle class kids already here get more interested in educating themselves and less interested in feeling entitled to everything?
